Newcastle United 1896 - 1900 Jack Ostler

A friend of mine who knows that I collect football programmes asked me whether I might have any programmes from matches that his Grandfather played in. When he told me that his Grandfather was Jack Ostler and that he played for Newcastle between season 1896/97 and 1899/00 I immediately knew that I didn't!

However I said I would try and find out some more information other than what you can find by searching on the internet and I reckon this is the best place to try, so;

- did Newcastle publish any programmes at this point in their history and if so do any still exist?
- does anyone have a programme from a match that Jack Ostler played in and if so could they provide a scan?
- does anyone have any more information/pictures about Jack Ostler that they could provide?

According to my friend he was the first player to be transferred from a Scottish team for a three figure sum and a job down the pit!
