I’m trying to put together a complete record of the North Regional League for the time Gateshead competed in it ie 62/63 to 67/68. I’m starting with 67/68, and obviously programmes from the clubs whose Reserve sides took part would seem like a good source of information. However, before I start buying old programmes off Ebay, can anyone confirm if the 67/68 issues of the following clubs contained details of reserve fixtures: Carlisle, Hull, Middlesbrough, Sunderland and Workington?

Sunderland did.

Second Team fixtures are listed as Gateshead 2-2 Sunderland on 26/08/67 and Sunderland 3-1 Gateshead on 29/04/68

There is also something listed as "North Regional League Knock-Out Competition" which seems anything but a knock out competition, as we're listed as playing everyone home and away, except for Stockton who are listed only once.

Scores in that competition are Gateshead 1-3 Sunderland on 20/01/68 and Sunderland 4-2 Gateshead on 16/03/68

Carlisle listed details of NRL fixtures in their programme for 67/8

and Hull did to

Here are Gateshead's proposed fixtures for 62/3

and Gateshead's proposed fixtures for 63/4

Of course these are listings of scheduled games and they were subject to change at times. Also take into consideration the possibility of postponements etc...

Thanks Rocky. I have a Hull programme from much later in the season and as you say, postponements etc make the actual games played rather different. What I particularly like about the Hull programme though is the listing of the match receipts beside the attendance for first team games, not something I'd expect!

Hi

Wrexham played Workington in 1967/68 so checked that programme for you. Unfortunately no North Regional League fixtures are listed.
