Genuine good deals at an auction house?

I am intrigued by this. I do try to get programmes at a decent rate but always fee that by time all the fees are added that the price ends up being more than ebay or Facebook, at least for any of the more regularly seen programmes. I can only think I have had a “good deal” around things I have never seen on eBay, things like tournament guides/brochures and other related stuff.

Maybe I am being unrealistic?

I do wonder why some sellers use auction houses to sell 'run of the mill' items such as 'modern' programmes.

After they have paid their fees the money they pocket can't be any better than by selling on eBay.

I have thought if the sellers are not collectors themselves and are deposing of collections from relatives or house type clearances? That would explain why I have some 'bog standard' programmes sold in this way.
