Mexico 86 World Cup Cards

Can anyone remember these, they were see through plastic cards which Im sure were released in the run up to the World Cup in 86. I am trying to find who made them and how many were released etc.
I know the description is a bit vague but its all i can remember!

I'm glad you asked, because I have some of those and always wondered, so I've had a look in a ctalogue online, and I think they are from Panini and there are 72 of them, called Soccer Superstars.
Now we both know!!

I had a set of the clear plastic ones that I sold on ebay recently. Made by Panini Figurine. I have a feeling they may have been before 1986 though as I seem to recall the Trevor Francis card had him playing for Sampdoria which dates the card between 1982-1985*. You can rule out 1982-1983 as Mark Hately didnt make his England debut until 1984 so I think they are dated 1984 or 1985.

* If the Francis card says he was playing for Atlanta then they probably are 1986 but I am sure it said Sampdoria

THESE WERE THE FIRST EVER FOOTBALL STICKERS I COLLECTED AS A KID SO 1986 SEEMS ABOUT RIGHT. I LOVED THESE AT THE TIME AND KNOW I HAD A TON OF SPARES! NO IDEA WHERE MY COLLECTION IS NOW THOUGH! I'M HOPING THEY ARE STILL IN MY PARENTS LOFT!
