Looking for a little information if folks can help - probably one more for the Man City/Man Utd fans to answer.
United shared Maine Road directly after the war as Old Trafford was being renovated. I know United's Reserve XI played their Central League fixtures at Old Trafford, however, can anyone confirm where City's Reserve XI played.
My guess is that with Maine Road used every Saturday of the season by the first teams, City's reserves did not play their. Did they, therefore, play at Old Trafford? Anyone confirm either way?
Thanks in advance for any help.

After the war, and with Old Trafford being bomb damaged, ground share took place at Maine Road with City and United playing every alternate week. The opposite took place at Old Trafford with the respective reserve sides playing their home games there.
Whilst Old Trafford was prevented from playing Division 1 matches they were not barred from having other football matches with limited attendances and the arrangement for the reserve sides was an easy choice. The arrival of August 1949 saw United return to Old Trafford for all home matches.
However, United's training ground at the Cliffe was also available 1946-1949 and, during the war, United played the odd match at that venue; such match programmes are like hen's teeth to the collectors and maybe another subject for the guys on here who have more depth of knowledge on this topic. |
