Came across this one in a folder-full of A to Z 1-per-club reserve team programmes I must have built up many years ago.
I like finding these thngs in my cupboards.....lots of goodies to go through!
Odd shaped 4 page issue - 8 x 3 inches - just wondered if this might be worth anything given the opposition?
You can never tell with Man Utd Smile

Recognise most of the players' names in the United team - but not Whelan at #4 nor Morton at centre-forward!

Steve

I take it the teams are on the reverse side-correct?.

Well because of the punched holes i cannot offer anymore than £5000! Laughing I may have gone a bit more if it had been the Pink issue!

Leslie Millman is manchesterunitedman1 and doesnt offer to pay much for stuff [that's why he has not got the world's biggest Manchester United collection] Wave

Oops - writing on the line-up page too, Leslie!
Yours for £4k, pal Smile

Seriously, though...who was Whelan at #9?
Did he end up at another club?

Anthony M. Whelan born Salford 20/11/1952.
Signed as apprentice December 1969, no first team League appearances.
Transferred to Manchester City March 1973, 3 first team League
appearances plus 3 subs, no goals
Transferred to Rochdale July 1974,124 League appearances, 20 goals.
All information from my bargain of 2012, a quid from charity shop. Laughing

Thanks, Matt.
I guess Whelan must have joined Rochdale after they had that horrendous season in 73/4 when they were relegated by the end of February or so.
I think the 73/4 Rochdale v Cambridge game had the lowest post-war attendance at a league game. 457 ?
I tried to get a full collection of 'Dale progs from that season but some of them were impossible to find. S/S issues due to the power cuts etc etc.
Rochdale v Bristol Rovers, anyone?

Always had a soft spot for Rochdale after I met some of their fans at a game at Scarborough circa 1989.
Barmy, yes, but what a noise they made!

Tony Whelan is now a youth team coach at Old Trafford.

Those Blackpool reserve programmes from that era are pretty difficult to find and are now quite valuable, especially against the more collectable clubs.
I remember when there was no market at all for reserve team programmes.
They are now highly sought after.

For your amusement i have shown a scan of the Blackpool reserves v Manchester United reserves programme from October 1968.

Note that Manchester United had 3 European Cup winners(from May 1968) in the squad
This is available at offers over £3.5k or a swap will also be considered!!
