This bloke has really gone to work on this one. 10/10 for trying. I'm still not 100 percent convinced it is Sunderland, but he makes a compelling case.

Some of the players do seem very alike in both photos.

Well there couldn't have been that many minor teams about in those days, if any, so it probably is Sunderland, the fact that the photo was bought alongside a numbers of non football photos all from Sunderland. An interesting find, i wonder what it will go for?

No i didn't buy it. The seller is not a football dealer so the buyer i assume is not really a football collector but a general antique buyer. I found it interesting but was reluctant to pay this amount for it. Sad
