hi Phil

I am with you in the prog cover from Portsmouth (ships are always strange for people from the mountains) and Wolverhampten (Draculas mystic dogs on a football cover)..... but why do you post this 08/15 (you know this saying in England?? = average) covers from the other programmes?

looking for an answer to understand this thread.

Olly

Fav programme covers....

I understand : something special - not common issues - or fantastic designs

you paste : programmes we find by hundereds in every programme shop, and mostly with a boring cover and a poor graphic design

except : Portmouth = interesting ship and the Wolve design with this agressiv black animal. Not seen very often on a football cover and this makes it something special.....

If I missunderstood your reason of posting this covers let me know. The way I would handle it I tried to describe in my posting

Olly

OK... got it

A little info why it is a fav programme would help. Maybe there are intersting and funny stories behind the cover everyone could be interested in.

for me these old "painted" covers are always worth to watch my progs again and again. I love these designs mostly issued between the late twentys and the early fiftys.

But like everything there are always different views

My last attempt Olly in trying to persuade you that my programme covers are a joy to behold. Remember Olly some times less is more?.

Anyone wishing to see real artistic prowess in all things football should pay a visit to the museum at the Camp Nou, Barcelona. It's breathtaking some of the designs they produced for various artefacts in the 20's and 30's. The club's matchday programmes, posters, and monthly magazines (especially in the 1950's) should be in an art gallery.
