The FA are making fools of themselves they no longer want clubs to appeal against sending-offs as they always seem to think that referees are right. In this case the Ref got it wrong.
They come out with all this claptrap about respect the ref but this should work 2 ways, referees should show some respect to the players and some players can help the referees by not blatanty cheating (and this is not a dig at Man Utd players, because every club have them).

Despite the rights and wrongs of the case, and there's no doubt it was a miscarriage of justice, I think WTF? I don't give a toss about the Premier League and it's bunch of overpaid fuckwits who ghost as footballers. They deserve each other...

Probably turned down because it would then send out a message that Ashley Young cheated and that the referee got it wrong....and we cant have a team that will soon be celebrating their 20th title, labelled as cheats can we!

I cant believe they have turned down the Derry appeal.Technically it was a foul ,exacerbated by Ashley Youngs theatrical fall(which players dont these days)but harsh to say the least!.Scandalous! Especially when they overlook Bonkerstellis potential leg breaking challenge on Song!Yes the italian idiot was eventually sent off ,but more action should been taken .You get more for some expletives aimed at a camera!Which is worse?

This matter sums up everything that is wrong with the modern game. From overpaid 'prima donna' footballers, totally inconsistent referees, who were supposed to improve having turned full-time 'professional', referee assistants who more often than not do not assist, a 4th official who does what exactly?, to faceless bureaucrats in authority who are supposed to be 'managing' the game but are clearly hopelessly out of touch.

Why is it that every other multi-milion dollar sport has embraced technology but football has its head in the sand. Why can't these officials admit when they have got it wrong?

We continually see these injustices, from diving/cheating, offside, penalties not given for handball in the area, players pushing/shoving, shirt grabbing in the area in full view of the officials yet rarely is anything awarded.

An official who has screwed up in Rugby League has been named and shamed and dropped from a top fixture this coming weekend. Maybe next time he will do his job properly. In football nothing changes and so the mistakes continue.

Is it any wonder that managers and supporters are losing faith?

Who gives a flying monkeys if the managers are losing faith they contribute to the mockery that professional football is becoming and are as much to blame for the cheating as the players and the FA.

People like Dalgliesh defending the acts of Suarez and the dive of Andy Carroll, People like Wenger who always say they didn;t see the Arsenal player go through an opponent studs up or knee hieght, people like ferguson constantly trying to run the game and pointing at his watch. People like Warnock and Steve Evans who tell there teams to be dirty/physical and antagonistic.

A couple of years back i was watching an American football college game and one team got beat quite convincingly, during the game there were a few very harsh calls made against them but in the press conference after the game what did the losing team coach do, did he come out like one of our managers and blame the officials, did he make up sorry ass excuses no, he stood there for 15 minutes laying into his team, when asked about the harsh calls by the officials, the coach replied, they didn;t drop the ball they didn;t throw interceptions they didn;t miss a blocking assignment, my players did, he then said you can write what you like in your papers but at the end of the game the people responsible for our lose was my players not the officials, it was so refreshing watching this and seeing a coach be honest, he did make one comment about the officials and said that he felt they were leniant on a couple of his players as they should have thrown them out of the game, can you imagine someone like Wenger or Ferguson or Dalgliesh doing this after a loss??

I agree with your sentiments re certain managers/players but I would definitely not put the Wigan manager (Martinez) in that category. It seems to me that the majority are being penalised whilst the minority go scot free time and time again.

Yet again it is for those who supposedly govern the game to sort out errant players and managers. By rejecting the Derry appeal the FA are defending the indefensible because the officials clearly got it wrong.

Surely, if an official screws up it should be dealt with?

The key issue here is the blatant lack of consistency as to who gets punished and who does not.

Great example today where UEFA fine Balotelli £25k for returning to the pitch late but hand out another fine of £16k to Porto for Racism to Balotelli - unbelievable nonsense!

what is then bizarre is that the balotelli studs up challenge on Song was not punished.........on what planet is Derry's touch on Young worse than Balotelli coming in studs up over the ball at knee high. Sheer stupidity
