They earned promotion last weekend, it will be intresting to see how much money they spend in the summer months.

I'll be putting a bet on them to go up again, their budget is still going to be bigger than anyone else in league two next season. I might have been able to like them as well if Steve Evans wasn't their manager.

Wait till the money runs out.
Pitiful ground, pitiful support.

Jealous? Me? Only of the number of points they've managed to put together. Thankfully we managed to beat them at our place and put Steve Evans nose out of joint, but unsurprisingly they've won the title with matches to spare. I wish I could be a bit more magnanimous, but they've shown very little class, from their manager (all season), through their FA Cup exploits at Torquay and their Munich scoffing cup video.

I can't decide whether to feel happy for their long-standing regulars, or sad that they're risking their entire football club for the sake of a few glory years surrounded by floaters who will mostly disappear as soon as the cash / results dry up.

Another Rushden & Diamonds waiting to happen ...

Crawley are a team which is very difficult to like (not withstanding they are a rival of my team), even as underdogs against Man Utd. The reasons why are covered above, their manager and their “mystery backers” don’t help, but I suppose that most people know their rise is completely unsustainable and reliant on the goodwill of their “mystery backers”. As for their long standing fans, I wonder if they will actually relish the ride – wherever it takes them - with the realisation that they will probably end up back where they started one day?

It’s a bit like Gretna, their 100 or so loyal fans must have been in dreamland at points along the way to SPL status, Cup Final and Europe, all through the money of one man. When the tap was turned off they went bust and reformed basically at the level where they came from. On reflection, I wonder if those 100 fans would rather have never heard of Miles Brookson and still be in the Northern League, or whether they treasure their 15 minutes of fame?

Appropriately the Crawley Town players are being treated to an end of season trip to Las Vegas.

Ca-Ching. Thumbs Up

I just had a look on Wrexhams site it was 37 they brought, I know it was Tuesday night, but you would expect a team who have been top of the table for most of the season to take at least a couple of hundred.

*Near* the top of the table for most of the season! (Although they always had games in hand on us). 65 of them made it to Southport today. http://i1228.photobucket.com/albums/ee445/paulaird/16042011378.jpg ...

Bitter I know.
