After Mancheter United, who is Europe's best supported team? It's a bit of a surprise, so no cheating, just have a guess.

I dont think Manchester United supporters in 1974-1975 season were glory hunters as they had been relegated to the old division 2, yet had gates of 50000 plus.and were the best supported club in all the divisions.
I would also dismiss the perpetuated myth that no fans are from the Greater Manchester area. There are at least 25 supporters clubs within a 5 miles radius of Old Trafford.Granted United do have a support outside the Manchester area ,but which fan can honestly say that all who support their own club , all of them are local? Maybe some in the lower divisions perhaps ,but I maintain that most United
fans are from a local vicinity.Still as a United fan for 57 years I would say that will be the cynical view from the ABUs Sad

I would agree that Burnley are possibly the most local fans ,and I admired their performance yesterday at Old Trafford with their very vocal support .Football always needs the Burnleys of this world.I remember the great team they had in the late 50s ,and 60s.Jimmy Mcilroy ,Colin McDonald,
Jimmy Adamson, John Connelly,AleX Elder,John Angus, and many others.
Always admired that Burnley side ,and loved my visits to Turf Moor Smile

Germany has the best support in Europe. It's strange that their league is not stronger. Italy has poor crowds. Spain is like Scotland. The big two then thats it..( crowd wise , no offence)

Well done on following them for 57 years, there will always be this debate on Man Utd as to if SOME NOT ALL of their fans are glory hunters, but any club will have its glory hunters even my club Leicester, when we reached the Worthington Cup Final 3 times in 4 years we seemed to suddenly find an extra 30000 supporters who claimed never to have missed a game, but then again thats football for you.

When you talk about best supported you have to take into account the catchment area of the club and the general success that clubs has had.

I would say ManU are the easiest team to support but don't know about best although sure plenty of people turn up but even a section of those don't rate 50% of the gate as real supporters.

Any young lad who supports a club outside the top two divisions has my respect these days. And off the top of my head I would pick someone like Walsall. The reason being they are surrounded by league clubs and have had little real success but the fans are fanatical if not many.
