I've tried searching online but information is either vague or clearly wrong - when did Millwall Athletic drop the "Athletic" and become just Millwall?

Answers seem to range from 1910 to 1925!!!

Name change from Millwall Athletic to Millwall in 1903.

Millwall were still known as Millwall Athletic FC in the 1908/9 season. I suspect they dropped 'Athletic' when they relocated to south London.

I've checked many sources and they all seem to agree in that they kept dipping in and out of being known as Athletic for a number of years at the start of the Century, this can be seen with many team photos of the era, some include Athletic whilst others don't

1903/04 seems to be the first time they didn't include Athletic, but that isn't the last. It appears very murky and even the official Millwall site doesn't give a definitive date

Lot 90 in the link below (Graham Budd Auction) shows an official Millwall s/s from the 1912/13 season covering a London Challenge Cup tie between West Ham and Chelsea. The front references Millwall rather than Millwall Athletic. This seems to confirm that Athletic had been dropped prior to the season mentioned.

Watford appear to have persevered with 'Millwall Athletic' into the 1930s !!

Here is a Millwall programme from 31st October 1908. So officially they were Millwall Athletic until at least 1909. Throughout the programme they refer to themselves and Swindon, Northampton Brighton, all without the suffix.

What is odd is that Millwall do not mention the change on their website nor has anyone bothered to check it out for Wikipedia.
