A Spurs fan's obsessive collecting of all things Spurs described in 4 glorious pages in today's Guardian G2 supplement. |

I think this is an article that has been printed previously - I remember posting on here about it sometime earlier this year.

It is a new article, he talks about giving Chris a copy of the Spurs vs Man. City programme that he went to the other week. |

Its a very interesting read. My own collection is pretty specialised, it concentrates on one ground, and finding some of my wants is pretty compulsive.
I guess its a trait that all collectors have.

I read the article in today's Guardian and thoroughly enjoyed it. There are bits in there about the 'bug' which we have all caught to varying degrees, which we can all identify with! Thanks to Auchinlekian for posting it. I read out some of the bits (though said nothing about how much I spend of course) to my missus and we both had a good laugh, and now she knows she is not the only wife who has to put up with the problem. The article shows him sitting barefoot and with his feet on some programmes with his Spurs items strewn around him, so maybe he's not that clued up about storage! I don't know the author but, and quote
"Hoarding is a type of obsessive behaviour, but it is not always worrying. Most of the time it is an eccentricity in an otherwise normal person." |

Great stuff. I don't worry about all that nerdy rubbish. The bit about pensions is spot on. I just tell my wife it's our pension fund. Looking at it this way i never pay over the odds for programmes.I always have a figure in my head and stick with it.. that makes me less obsessive and a bit more calculated. Sure i'd love to buy everthing, but if you don't have a limit you could find yourself in trouble. |

You're spot on Wullie, I'm the same. I don't have a pension, so I tell my family that this is my pension/my kids inheritance. I also would like to have every Forest programme going, but I have to be realsitic and accept that some are just out of my price range. I would say that I am obsessive, as would my Mrs!! _________________ PLEASE check out my Prostate Cancer UK charity auction page here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1550474568596587/ |
