About Me

What do you do for a living?

Student at Leeds Met University

Which club do you support and why?

Leeds United, local team, father's influence.

What do you collect?

Leeds United home programmes.

How did you get into programme collecting?

Received a few from my father a few years ago to start me off and have been fascinated ever since.

Your Collection

What was your first football programme?

The first i got myself was probably my first match at home to QPR in 1995, we lost 3-1!

What was the last programme you bought?

I've just bought a number of programmes on ebay, mainly 60's.

How big is your collection?

I have around 700.

How do you store your collection?

I store them by season in large plastic storage boxes.

Whats the oldest programme you own?

Leeds v Birmingham, 1947-1948 season. It was given to me by a neighbour who found it in his attic.

What is the rarest item in your collection?

I'd say probably the aforementioned from 1947.

Which programme from your club is the rarest and most expensive to obtain?

I'd say the rarest are the ones dating back the furthest (pre-war) along with european semis and finals.

What is...?

What is your worst buy?

Maybe building up a collection of aways before deciding to concentrate on homes and selling aways at a loss.

What is your best buy?

Picked up a number of programmes from the mid 60's from a regular customer in the bar i work in at a very reasonable price.

What is the most you have paid for a programme and which one?

I haven't really splashed out on any specific programmes as of yet but i'm sure the time will come as i hunt down those elusive ones.

What is the most you have received for a programme and which one?

only sold the occasional duplicate and only received peanuts.

What is your most prized programme?

my 47/48 programme v Birmingham, my 48/49 v Blackburn and my european ties from the 60's.

Whats your biggest regret in collecting?

Not many as of yet.

The Hobby

In you opinion, is the programme collectors communtiy shrinking or growing?

I'd say, with the discovery of this website, and the availability of programmes on ebay, from online sellers and fairs, it's a healthy community.

What do you enjoy most about the hobby?

The feeling of tracking down that one programme to complete a season, or finding a hidden gem at a fair or online and getting it n the cheap!

Where do you buy most of your programmes from?

Mostly Ebay, the occasional fair, or the programme hut outside Elland Road.

The Future

If money was no object, which programme would you most like to add to your collection?

Too many to mention, the 1975 European Cup Final is always available but a little pricey, so maybe that.

Would you ever sell your collection?

Not in the forseeable future but who knows.

How do you wish to develop your collection over the coming years?

My aim is to own every home programme from 1960 onwards so i'll just keep building it up, completing seasons and see how far i get.
