I recently purchased a programme off this Forum, from a very regular poster currently. It was only a fiver, but I did expect it to arrive in a decent condition. Unfortunately, said item arrived in a plain envelope with no card to prevent it from bending. Result? A creased programme, and one which had been creased in the post, not creased originally.
I pm'd him, advising him that sending out programmes like that would inevitably crease, and he really ought to take a basic precaution of ensuring that they don't, by even putting a bit of card or the like inside.
His reply....I do usually, but my mother sent that one!!!!!!! No apologies, no "do you want a refund" just blamed it on poor old mam.
Is it me????????????

No its not you

Its alright having a feed back system where people can compliment people on their level of service but I expect good service and only need to know if people fail to live up to standard. Perhaps I'm too trusting. Your issue is exactly what we need to know about.

I get a number of people asking that I post +ve feedback for ebay deals. I neither crave to give or receive feedback but I will certainly communicate if theres an issue.

I await further news with interest

I would be nice to think that all members of this forum observe a fairly basic Code of Conduct when offering programmes for Sale/Exchange.

In simple terms,

1. All programmes should be described accurately.

2. Packaged to arrive in the condition you would wish to receive them.

3. Offer a 100% Refund on all sales if the recipient is not happy.

Finally, treat others as you would like to be treated yourself.

Anyone who cannot abide by the above should be named and shamed and barred from offering items for Sale/Exchange.

John mentions that the guy in question is a very regular poster on the forum. Instead of John been asked to name and shame, maybe the culprit should have the balls to actually post an apology in this thread and leave himself in a better light.

Although, in principle I agree with the sentiments expressed in footyfan's code of conduct, I suggest an element of caution.

Describing programmes accurately is a little subjective, as we all know, sellers & buyers don't always agree on what constitutes an accurate description.
Sellers can be liberal with the truth or worse, and some buyers can be pedantic at the best of times.

'Naming and shaming'...is a dangerous path to tread...after all where do you draw the line?... PM have their 'blacklist', I suggest it's left there.

To be fair, John hasn't mentioned this, he's offered some good advice and hasn't had the appropriate response.

He has given the impression of surprise, and disappointment, (in reference to a forum member) rather than anger, so I don't think we should be getting out the torches and pitchforks just yet.

Our local used to be the same, if you were first in on sunday night, you'd regularly complain to the landlord that the beer tasted funny, he used to say it must be the 'cleaning fluid still in the pipes'. Thanks son that's £1.40.

Needless to say, we didn't go to the local paper and tell them the 'Mulberry' was rubbish,..... we just stopped going in.

Sharrowblade - whilst I do not disagree with comments and I am all for giving the benefit of the doubt et al BUT the question remains on how to prevent another member from suffering the same problem if the 'offender' is not identified?

Before setting the dogs loose, do we actually know that a refund has been refused?

All I was looking for was a response from the member on here. I wasn't demanding any refund, I'd have done that via another pm, I just wanted to elicit a response from him via something a bit more public than a pm to see if he'd offer even an apology - which hasn't happened. Luckily it was a fiver, if it had been ten times that amount I wouldn't have been so civil. Ironic thing is he got a number of items from me, perfectly packaged, from my 1960's list the day before I got my creased affair. Surprised nobody ascertained who it was, the clues were in the first posting....

I know where you are coming from and it appears to be
a common occurrence among Royal Mail staff, to have little
or no comprehension of the phrase: 'Please do not bend.'
On the other side of the coin, I get just as frustrated when
a programme(s) arrives which is sealed tighter than a pack
of 'Charlie' on its way to Blighty from Medellín.

I agree with most of what Footyfan says, but also agree with Sharrow, that we have to be careful about taking action like banning people, especially when this is the first time the poster in question has been flagged up about it. Surely it would make more sense for posters to know who it was, that way they can choose to buy programmes from the person in question or not, whereas banning seems a bit extreme.
