Some old papers in a charity shop caught my eye this week and I'd never had the privilege of reading an original pre-war Daily Worker before. It became the Morning Star in 1966 so it's fairly obvious where its political allegiances lie. Interesting reading throughout though, 6 months after Guernica and with the appeasers refusing to acknowledge the situation in Germany and Italy, much as the DW just loved that nice Mr Stalin.

Anyway, the back page is even more interesting, if you like that sort of thing. It's a large broadsheet, very yellowed, and I hope it's come out OK on my A4 scanner. Read on - Sat 6th November 1937:-

If anyone would like it emailed to them please drop me a PM.

Interesting to see how few of the day's fixtures could be played in the same divisions today. Also - it's "Upton Park" - not the Boleyn! And there's a nice new stand for Chelsea.

Great to see old papers such as this one.

I am always on the look out around junk shops and charity shops.

I note Leeds United v Blackpool was given as a probable home win but this ended 1-1 with the great Jimmy Hampson scoring for the Seasiders.

And Blackpool won the return fixture 5-2.
