Somewhere in the middle of the two.

On the one hand, I bet it costs a packet to "hire" Real Madrid but on the other hand, what profit margin are the club budgeting for?

I'd hate to fork out all that money, though, and find out it was their "B" team I was watching.

personally i have no interest in friendlies.....i prefer it when winning really matters and you know both sides are fully committed. At £60 it seems like an unbelievable price for a July kick about. I might have gone if it was £20 but no way at that price.

Scandalous. Pure as.

The Club announced that this game was a 'well earned gift to the fans for supporting them'. Laughing

Not just another excuse to fleece more money from supporters, then?

Watching it online now. Just about to kick off.

Looks like it's a complete sell-out. Every seat taken.

Lot of people there wearing the Real shirt.

I think it's pretty near the Real first choice team but, as my Portuguese isn't up to much, it's hard to tell.

Whatever, looks like AFCB will do all right out of this - and set a trend...?

£60 a ticket and still "supporters" were leaving with 15 minutes to go.

More money than sense.

Looked for the programme on EBay. One bloke selling them at £9.25 each.

It was a surprisingly "fun" game to watch. Online, that is.

I see Dean Court is a 4-sided ground once again.

The "Ted MacDougall Stand" opened for action this evening.

To be honest, AFCB looked like the team not taking this game seriously.

According to Radio 5, Real Madrid got around £1 million for playing this fixture - which explains the ticket cost.

What I'd like to see for this type of game is free entry (or twenty quid tickets) for season ticket holders, then fire away and fleece the bandwagon hoppers.

Not sure how it does, 11,700 x £60 is only £702,000
I can't see Bournemouth forking out £300k just to play this match

I found at least 4 foreign channels covering the match including one in Australia. They would have made a bit out of these TV rights.

I also heard the million quid figure and I also heard that Bournemouth were losing out by hosting the game. Obviously hoping to then sell on tv rights merchandise etc etc.

When Real Madrid played at Palace in April 1962, we believe they charged us £10k which was huge in those days and I doubt the 26000 gate covered it. Result was 3-4, RM having been 4-0 up at half-time before a mass substitution and a Palace fight-back.

Madrid team pic shows Puskas nearest camera and Di Stefano 4th from left.

Johnny Byrne is playing for Palace having been loaned back to us for one night after his record-breaking transfer to West Ham a month earlier.

Palace kit is to die for.

Here are some photos from this game:-
