Sorry Mick I am not selling up yet, but...I often toy with the idea of selling my collection which consists mainly of Forest programmes back to late 1950's but always talk myself out of doing so. I have not added to my collection for a couple of years or read any of them for about 5 years and have fallen out of love with Forest to a certain extent.

So why dont I just sell them and reclaim a couple of bookcases under my stairs? I dont know the answer to this, I know that I am a hoarder which is proven by my collection of beano and american comics and I know that i like the idea of just owning something for the sake of it. I ask myself if I sold them, would I miss them? Can I be bothered with the hassle of trying to sell them? I dont know. Does anyone else have this dilema?

Not really, my son wants it (one day).. so I guess in time it'll be 100 years worth of continuous home programmes...

Maybe if I had a son it would be worth keeping for him, my daughter hates football, but I am working on her.

Sold my Albion collection about 12 years ago when I got married (homes complete back to 56 away complete back to 60 apart from about 7 plus there were plenty of h/a friendlies tests reserves the lot) , I had sort of lost interest but is the biggest regret of my life.

I have tried to collect them again twice but just couldn't bring myself to buy the same programmes again so got rid again. Have started again but only really friendles/ tests and first home league game of the season, something I can realistically achieve plus a couple of other categories I collect as well.

Moral of the story - think very very carefully before you get rid. Crying or Very sad

Hi hi I remember I sold my first football programme collection when I discovered girls Smile Not just that but most my records to.

Thing is you can replace most things but you can't replace the enjoyment having the whole thing gave you till you replace the whole thing. And sure if you collect say 1950 to 2000 home programmes and sold that collection you could always start with another era or type but you'll always yarn for the last collection and if you see items you'll always wish you still had yours.

I think thats one reason I don't use a tick list approach. No I just buy what fancy and throw it in a box. I'll then look in the box now and then deciding what I'm going to do. The only thing I now collect of a type is Albion testimonials and those I can keep in the living room in a folder or two Wink
