Over the years one has learned to accept the mind-bogglingly stupid decisions of the Boards of many many football clubs.

This decision takes things onto a new level.

Utter madness.

Confused

Totally agree. Just makes you wonder what the Owners were expecting this season.

I do not know a lot about Southampton but he seems to be a good guy, hard working and doing the best he can with the resources he has been given. I think they have replaced him with an unknown Argentinian!

On the face of it, utter madness. And it is.

But from what I've read, there's more than a hint of a "rebranding" strategy being instigated at the club.......and I don't think that the board, in their, ahem, "wisdom", were able to align Adkins (his personality, public image and footballing ethos) with their strategic plan. Whayever that may be. But you can judge where they see themselves by who they've appointed in his place.

One thing's for sure - Adkins won't be out of work for very long. Managers at one or two underachieving Championship clubs will now be nervously looking over their shoulders!

An unbelievably ridiculous decision, looked like they had turned the corner and would possibly stay up, hope they struggle now (sorry Saints fans). If Pochettino is still in the job this time next year I'll eat this thread

I was reading in a mid-50's Soccer Star today how Harry Hooper of West Ham fame was interested in music and bought up to 3 singles a week!
The average Premiership player can buy half a house each week on their wages now, totally obscene

Just as well none of them are programme collectors, then!
Think of the inflationary effects

Only professional player I can think of who was a prog collector was in Football Monthly saying so circa 1962. Left-winger with Bristol Rovers, I think. I forget his name.

Jim Langley of Fulham used to collect cigarette cards.

And Billy Caskey of Derby was an avid newspaper collector - as in "one copy of as many different newspapers I can find"

Any others?
