Sorry I don't know how to upload items for showing on here - if anyone can advise on how to do so I'd be most grateful - but I was given a photocopy of an item owned by a guy in my local today, and what an item it was.....However, he's keen to know what it was for (he thinks it was some kind of friendly match from research he's done himself)
Basically, it's this
A mounted photograph of Bobby walker of Hearts, in an oval setting, surrounded by the autographs of the following Scotland Internationals
Harry Rennie Goalkeeper with both Hearts and Hibs
Paddy Crossan
????? Gibson
Jack Bell
Bobby Walker
Alex Reisbeck (Liverpool at the time, apparently)
R.S.McColl (Newcastle / Queen's Park) and the very same R.S McColl of the newsagents fame)
J. Campbell
Alex Smith (Rangers?)
"Jacky" Robertson
John Brunswick
The photo of Bobby Walker has him in a Scotland shirt, and I am reliably informed that the shirt is in Lord Roseberry's colours of pink and grey hoops.
I've never seen anything of this vintage signed by a full Scotland X1, and advised the owner that I reckoned it would be worth around the £400-£500 mark. What I would like to know though, does anyone know what game it was? Can't be certain of when the game took place, but if Raisbeck was at Liverpool it must have been pre 1909. Any help most gratefully received. |

Let me know if you want to upload a pic of this, I'd like to see it.
I can also post on a Hearts messageboard if you want, I know there's a Hearts fan who has researched Bobby Walker extensively. _________________ https://www.flickr.com/photos/footballprogrammes/albums |

Tynie, I'd love to be able to put a photo of it on here but just don't know how to. Alternatively, pm me your email address and I'll send the scan across to you?
From my own limited research it appears to be from just around the turn of the century, 1901 seems to be when the majority of players were clustered around either international caps or inter league ones, albeit two of the players - Brun(s)wick and the guy opposite his name appear in neither. This left me wondering whether it might be from an international trial or the like? Maybe a testimonial even?
I've also been advised from a friend who works at the Hampden Museum that the image I described to him of Walker sounds as if it might be that which had then been used for a postcard of him, that has his facsimile autograph, and which is very collectable amongst Jambo collectors.
Let me ken what you want, and I'll oblige, as I'm fascinated to find out the story behind it. |

There's no gaps in my email address, I think there might be a gap in there I added by mistake! _________________ https://www.flickr.com/photos/footballprogrammes/albums |

I've been in contact with Steve the "Bobby Walker expert", and he has seen this thread, here are his obeservations;
"I knew I had seen this image before. A few years ago, Gary kindly sent me a scan of the exact same image BUT it is missing some of the signatures that are on your scan - very strange indeed! IIRC Gary obtained this at auction somewhere. On the bottom of Gary's image is written, "The Scottish Wizards of 1900". If you send me your email address, I'll forward the image onto you but I suggest you contact Gary for more info. It looks to me like the signatures must have been printed on the oval photomount and mass-produced/printed before framing with the oval image of BW (Bobby Walker). For your info, I have a real photo of this exact BW image which is signed by him. The same image was also printed on postcards.
The strip BW is wearing is indeed the Rosebery colours which are pink and yellow not pink and grey as stated per the posting on the messageboard. There seems to be some confusion on the thread around the BW postcard image. The most iconic BW postcard is the one similar to that reflected on two oil paintings, one of which is owned by HMFC and the other owned by me which is on loan to the Hampden Football museum. That postcard has the oval portrait of BW in this same pose, surrounded by his Scotland caps. There are also a handful of BW postcards in circulation signed by BW and some of these are black and white Real Photo postcards."
and here is the image;

Great stuff Tynie, and I'll certainly pass on the details to the guy who has the "original" as it now seems it may not be? Intriguing stuff.... |
