Thing that peas me off about auctions is you have to wait a month or more to get paid out. Any of you auction house's heard of PAYPAL.

Hiya,

We pay our vendors within 3 weeks. On some occasions its within 2 weeks.

And yes we have a paypal account.

we also dont charge lotting fees, photo fees, VAT, cataloging fees, Unsold lot fees etc. We only have on average 10% unsolds per auction out of an average sale of 1200 lots.

Our catalogues are Free of charge also.

Keep us in mind for the future Smile

To be fair, it's a bloody nightmare trying to get paid from buyers on Ebay at times. I will definitely consider Football Sport Auctions in the future. Ebay really pissed me off the last few weeks. Not the idea, just the idiots who use it.

Auctions here we go again, some Auction hoses make £400 on every £1,000 sale.Didnt someone on here say that their auctioneer got paid £1,000 an hour ?..
I went to see a collection last year and offered the bloke £600, he said he wants to put it through an auction.. He waited 5 months for the auction and another month to be paid £425.. I know this because he phoned me up afterwards to buy his autograph collection

Any chance you might put a search function on your online catalogue?

Same sort of thing happened to me. Someone asked me for a valuation, i gave what i thought was a fair answer and offer. No , he took it to auction , got the wrong advice, asked for crazy money and it did not sell.....

Hiya,

Yep we are putting a search engine on the site soon. The catalogue will be up on Saleroom.com shortly and there is a search engine there.

On another note, i give realistic prices to my vendors that are reachable at my auctions hence the low unsold amounts per sale. On the flip side though every lot is reserved.

I also make a cash offer to buy any collection if the vendor wishes me too and i make no secret to them that i will only offer 50% of what there collection is worth. So if a collection is worth £1 they will be told that it is worth £1 at auction or i would buy it for 50p.

I cant comment on other companies but if i see something that i value at £1000 I tell the client £1000, not £3000 to get there buisness as i dont want to waste there time and most of all i dont want to waste lot numbers in my auctions trying to sell items that have no chance of selling.

Andy,

I see you are getting around the country. Do you have any plans to hold an auction in the North West sometime in the future?

Living in Cheshire most sporting auctions involve a fair bit of travel which makes it uneconomic for me and others living up here.

Strange that the Manchester and Liverpool areas do not have regular specialist sporting auctions - except for Bonhams and the odd other one.

Hiya Martin,

We plan to hold an annual auction at Lincoln but the other 3 or 4 sales a year will be at the usual venue at Stevenage. We use Stevenage for it location, its nearly in the centre of England with the M1 one side, the A1 the other side and the M25 just below it.

As you know we are based in the North West and i would love to have a sale in this area, you never know it may happen soon Wink

Andy

There is of course an upcoming sports auction at Bonhams in Chester on 26th September.

http://www.bonhams.com/auctions/19897/

A lot of things for Barnsley supporters (including a 1900 program) plus a complete set of 1964/5 FA Cup programs (1st round onwards) and a large number of preliminary rounds.

There is yes but I prefer the Football Sport Auctions Limted auction at Lincoln City on October the 8th which this thread was created for. Maybe you could create a thread for the Bonhams auction ? Razz

This catalogue is now available on Saleroom.com. Please visit

The following Bonham's lot could well attract a few bids from Thailand

(not that I'm an expert in this field you'll understand!)

What happens when you win an auction online ( lets say one for £10 - not ebay ) - ring the auctioners to pay and are told you didn't win - even though you have it showing as WON under WINNING BIDS ? You're told -

Someone in the room won the bid and already collected it .

I must have been born yesterday ! Judge

Another gripe of mine is commision bids - should these be allowed ?
