May as well steal the idea from Programme Monthly and start a new thread. Post scans/pics here of some favourite programmes in your collection, and by favourite it doesn't neccesarily mean rarest or oldest, it could be a nice cover design, it could be a programme from a famous or obscure game or whatever. One programme per post and it would be good to get a really varied pic collection.

I'll start with an old favourite, Hearts v Hibs 1st January 1953;

Well I hate to admit it we lost 17-0. Laughing
We were just a youth club side and we were billed as Birmingham Boys.
I was captain, four of our players ended up in hospital before the game kicked off after a night out in Glasgow.
We played Vale of Leven drew 2-2, St Mirren lost 1-0, but the Glasgow Rangers/Celtic match was something else.. They were the pick of Scotland and we played at Maryhill Glasgow 3,000 crowd.

Everytime they scored (17) the fans ran on the pitch and kicked us. I ended up with a sprained ankle and we ended up with 9 players.
The amazing thing about this game even though it was over 40 years ago I only got the programme this year. they played in Rangers kit first half and Celtics kit 2nd half.
PS I went to Barr Beacon school and lived on the Pheasey..
The manager Jim Parkes is still alive and well and living by me in Sutton..

To be honest could have picked any of last season's Albion programmes but this one was special to me. My kids bought me a vip package as a birthday present and also bought a full page advertisement for football4sale.co.uk in the programmes.

So yes it's a bit special to me. Funny to as my daughter kept saying "have you read the programme dad ?" the Albion marketing manager took me off to see the memorabilia and talked about adverting in the programme and the penny still didn't drop. It wasn't till after the match I noticed the advert Smile Nice touch too, they sat me in with Graham Williams and the other past players to watch the match.

Tis indeed.

22 club, I thought that name rang a bell, I lives in Kingstanding and I think I might have either played for, played against or trained with them at one time. To my great regret I didn't put my heart into playing for teams although I played a lot of football I didn't like giving up weekends and once got sacked (I think from Handsworth Colts) for not going to training on Bonfire night Smile

Anyway did a quick search due to the above and found this;

Jim Parkes the manager is a hero of mine..

We played a tough team from Coventry and we beat them. They banged on the changing room windows and i retaliated putting my hand through the window. There was blood everywhere Jim put me in his car and sped off to Walsall hospital..
I still had my Football kit on and there was blood all over my car.. I dont know if he saved my life as it was very near a main artery, and I had 12 stitches.
I have a 4" scar to prove it. Shocked
