hi everyone, after many years of collecting/trading football memorabilia i now have got to sell up, reluctantly over 15000 football programmes, 100s of tickets and badges are for sale. Initially they are for sale as one lot. Would anyone on this website be interested ? or know anyone that might be interested ? This is the 1st 'advert' regarding this sale of this lot and I am new to the forum, so please be patiant. Thank you in advance from Darren in Shropshire
A quick breakdown.. approx 15000 (1904-2012) football programmes League and non league. 1 x 1904, 1 x 1920s, 3 x 1930s, 25+ 1940s, 50+ 1950s, 1000+ 1960s, 1000+ 1970s the rest spread out evenly upto 2010 including 1957 & 1993 fa cup replay and many many other cup final programmes. Approx 50 badges 1960s onwards and 150 tickets inc world cup and cup finals, basically my entire old 'ebay shop' for sale.. |

If you can't sell this as one lot, would you consider selling your older stock (pre 1960's only) and / or the memorabilia. There has been a number of people offering collections of older programmes for sale on here in the last 12 months who have very obviously been carrying out a hoax. Hope this one's kosher? |

A lot of the collectors on here want a postponed match that does not exist, or a rare reserves issue where there were small crowds.
No one wants programmes in bulk 1955 onwards unless its very very cheap.
I have 15.000 Programmes + 100 Specials + 50 Magazines on Ebay for sale at £1,000, and not even had an enquiry..
Best to list the Pre 1955 you have and get the best offer.
You did not mention a price you want. |

Just wondering if you would be willing split the lot up, and if so whether you have any Stevenage programmes available?
Thanks |

Not for me. You say it's worth over £16k, I think you're seriously deluding yourself with what you've mentioned. |

Really ? if anything I would have said the other.
It's the sort of bulk I look for but if it's already been in the window it's not for me either. Although i would be interested in any decent Albion stuff. |

If the vendor thinks it's worth over £16k, you have to ask why they didn't sell in his ebay shop for that kind of money. If the majority of the programmes are post 1960, then he's probably got them marked up at about £1 each - which is okay if you're looking to sell individually. If anyone buys something of that bulk, at that price, to try and sell on at a profit they're very quickly heading for problems.
On the other hand, if you have 1,000 programmes with a genuine sell on value of £16k, and can buy them for 50% or less you're in with a chance of making a profit. The problem is not tax ans VAT, it's the fact that it's a buyer's market out there, and I showed what I'd paid for 1940's programmes last week to illustrate this. This week I paid just over £34 for 4 Colchester programmes - 2 from 49-50 and 2 from 50-1, their most collectable seasons. That's an average of £8.50 each. 10 years ago you'd have paid £40 each for them.
I take my hat off to anybody who makes a living out of selling any kind of sporting memorabilia nowadays as it's very difficult to do so without very saleable stock. Post 1960 items just aren't saleable stock of the kind to make any kind of return on a £16k valuation. |

Sorry I misread you first post chap, I am in agreement on the lot offered.
As for selling memorabilia, I do ok but don't sell general programme as a rule and my income is supplemented by website work for others and income from other sites.
I'm lucky I guess, I can make a living from doing things I enjoy and have some for a number of years. But the are times, mostly weekly when I just wanted to get rid of all football stuff I hold - but then they go and beat the likes of Chelsea
It's hard selling large amounts into this market but then again it's harder buying them. |

£16,000 ??????????? Where did you get that price from, you have got to be more realistic.
If you get that over inflated price then Good Luck. to you
Im a millionaire on that basis.and take it from me (27 years dealing) its very hard to sell run of the mill programmes. |

hi
to answer a lot questions.. I do not want to split, its the whole lot as one lot.
the 16k value is ebay value, the minimum you can sell BIN on ebay is 0.99p. Our shop was called Jack James sporting memorabilia and we sold on average 12-15 programmes per day. There were 11000+ programmes in the shop. the shop was only open for 6 months and we sold over 1800 programmes. The majority of prgrammes were purchased 5 + years ago, when i got made redundant. There are several large collections in this lot that have not been seen anywhere before.
Please return to message 2.
The lot will also include 8 filing cabinets (just about enough room to store the programmes)
I have had one serious enquiry (looking to view), the price is £3000 for both collections. There you go,.. cards on the table, serious enquires only please |
