does anyone collect offical club letters, preferably signed by the manager of the time. I think they are fascinating items, but i've never really bought any. There seem cheap enough.

Only for Millwall so I don't many. However, some of the older letter headings are quite nice to see and, as you say, can be very interesting letters.

Sorry for appearing to hi jack your post as soon as you have started it-anyone would think we are working in tandem!

I think the manager tended to sign more before the War as then they were also secretary/managers but most clubs since the war would have had a secretary to handle the day to day stuff and the manager to just do that. Matt Busby may have signed some other stuff i guess but secretary Walter Crickmer seemed to handle most of it unless it was of course anything addressed to MB directly i suppose. My favourite item off all of these examples is the last one with the note from Mr. Busby to his player!.

my many followers know of my lack of computer skills.

tickets don't really float my boat but i do have some in my own collection that have caught my eye over the years.
I could actually do with a little help on this one.
If it doesn't come through please visit my flickr site and look at the season ticket set.This set is just opened.
On show is what is either a fixture list or a season ticket or both from season 1915/16.
We are in the teeth of the first world war and everybody is getting slaughtered in France.
On the face of it we have a fixture list as it covers both home and away games BUT it has inside the back cover that it is not transferable.
It is issued my Manchester United Football Club itself.
Could be something for directors to attend every game but i think it would have an introduction as i have some scouts passes in my collection and they always carry a note of who the bearer is and represents.
The attendances were usually 7000/10000 so i think you get get a ticket to follow your club home and away as it was regional league(Lancashire Section)
It is a bit arsewiped but to be honest i don't care.I have never seen anything like it before and there isn't too much about from season 1915/16 is there.
Anybody got any ideas?

Toilet Seats . Does anyone have a collection of toilet seats or urinals preferably from their old ground that was knocked down to make way for Tesco?

i am excited that i think i can upload now.
This is going back to the start of your thread about official club letters.
On offer is a Manchester United letter from 1904.
Manchester United had only been in existence for 2 years.
They were still playing at Bank Street in Clayton.
Old Trafford was 6 years away.
The telephone is 68 Openshaw.I bet they didn't have an automated recorded message telling you that you had been unlucky in the ballot as all the tickets had gone to Japanese day trippers with burger and chips thrown in for £499 plus VAT.
It is signed by the owner H H Davies and gives the secretary authority to speak on the clubs behalf.
At this point in their history Manchester United had never had a manager.They had only been owners and secertaries

I don't know if I should admit this but I still have a letter sent back by the Albion from when I was a kid (40 years ago?)

I had actually written to the club to ask them to put heating in the back of the Brummie Road End

Being the youngest of 6 brothers it says more about them really as none of them stopped my doing it

Bad topic that Wullie.
My company is making the man of the match awards for this summers Euros.
It is sponsored by Carlsberg and is effectively a beer pump with the tap cut off the top and plugged and the bit that screws in the bar at the bottom is cut off and replaced by a chromed base.
I cut off the bottoms and made the bases and sent 6 to the chromers so they do do me samples quickly.
I went into the Post Office and paid £42 to get them delivered by 9am the next day by Parcelforce.
When they didn't arrive by lunchtime i was told to put a claim in.I didn't want a claim but i wanted to know where my goods were(not showing up on tracking)
It turns out the post office put them in the normal system by mistake.
That takes 5 days to deliver.
They turned up after a week and the parcel had no postage as The Royal mail doesn't recognise Parcel Force and although they acknowledged i had paid £42 they didn't recognise it and they needed another £13.
Stay with me now.
If i paid by debit card it would take them a further week to process it so no delivery would be possible until then.
I had to beg my supplier to drive to the post office with £13 readies and collect it.
He did me this big favour.
When he got them back and opened the box it had been through the hub and everything was smashed to f**k.
The Post Offices answer was put a claim in.
That's all they keep saying

Bloody nightmare. the trouble here is the people behind the counter. Thick as pig shit half of them, and very little space to work in. They sometimes put Special Delivery in with the normal post. Then ask the postman collecting the mail, if he can tip five bags of mail on the floor and search hundreds of letters for a missing Special Delivery. Shake

Although they very rarely come up, I have one official club letter sent to one of the players at the time discussing his wages. It is from 1925/26 and signed by the player and club secretary.
