What would be a reasonable price to pay for these? They both came up at my local auction house today, and I bid on both, but not that familiar with programmes and prices from this era, probably stopped short. The '35 final wasn't in great condition, it had a fold which had caused a lot of damage to the cover, but it did come with a good condition ticket and songsheet. I stopped bidding at £200, so the guy got it for £210. The '38 final programme was in better condition, and also had a good condition ticket and song sheet. I stopped bidding at around £250, and the guy got it for £280. Part of me wanted to keep on bidding for this one, as it was in good condition, but didnt want to take too big a gamble, but I was quite happy not to get the '35 final, as the co9ndition was so poor.

There was also a 1935 Arsenal v Derby programme that I bid up to £40, which went for £45, again I wasn't sure of value so didnt want to go too far.

So, any advice on value of the above would be appreciated. I would point out that I haven't bought these, so I'm not going to run to ebay with them as soon as I've got rough ideas of value, I just want to learn a bit more about values of programmes from this era as a collector. Thumbs Up

Looking at the photos, the 1935 programme appears terrible, i wouldn't want to bid for that. I guess the prices are about right if you going to include comission fees on top.

That's what I thought about the '35 final, but the guy that bought them was over the moon with both of them!

you're right about the Arsenal programme, but it did look in top condition. That's the problem i find with pre war Arsenal programmes, so many have horrible rust marks and whilst there are plenty about, very few are in excellent condtion.

Thanks for the advice guys, I think a lot of the time you just have to trust your instincts. It was very tempting to bid higher though!!
