If you're an atheist then it's definitely a programme you need!

And yes, 1952/53 Charlton v. Burnley, postponed issue 6 December Crying or Very sad

Going a little sideways with this thread and at the risk of boring those who are already aware of it i would like to guide members of the forum to the British Library website.
In the late 1800's and early 1900's most football programmes fell under the heading of publications that had to be registered by the Post Office.
As such a copy was sent to the Post Office and these are now held in the British Library in London.
If you google British Library Football Programmes Newton Heath as an example you will find a link to what they hold.
First season Chelsea,1890's Newton Heath and lots of others.
They can be viewed but by appointment only.
Some of you might fancy a day out.

Portugal v Scotland 1950. A programme was allegedly issued but I've never seen it and its the only scan I'm missing on my website post war.
