Apparently, there are moves afoot to merge the top two Argentinian Divisions, and have a top divsion of 38 teams!

That's going to be a hell of a long season. Wink

Yes Tynie, that is a remarkable coincidence.

That will be one hell of a long season, 37 homes games I wonder what the prices are over there.

This has been pencilled in to start from 2012/13 season. Its not as straight forward as this appears.

The 38 teams will be divided into two leagues of 19 for the first part of the season after which the top 5 from each league will progress into the Zona Campeonato. The two league tables will be merged into one with the remaining top 9 teams joining the Zona Campeonato with the previous 2 sets of 5 teams.

Then the teams in both Zones will play 18 matches to determine the second half of the season.

The winner of the season will be the first placed team from the Campeonato zone.

Other top placed teams will either qualify for the Copa Libertadores or the Copa Sudamericana.

I don’t think any team will be playing 37 home games!

regards, Mark

And our friends north of the border thought their system was ridiculous. Smile
