I know this has been brought up in the past, but why do sellers keep re listing the same programmes over and over again when it is obvious they are asking too much for items. There are a few programmes that turn up every week i would be interested in, but neither i or anyone else is going to pay over the odds for them. They must be paying a fortune in listing fees. Can anyone explain the logic? |

Wullie, this is something that has driven me nuts ever since I have been using ebay.
Reckon none of us will ever find out the answer though. _________________ I am not gas, I am a Pirate.

DOES MY HEAD IN, THERE ARE A FEW ITEMS LISTED OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN AT A PREMIUM PRICE. I WOULD BUY THEM IF THEY WERE LISTED REALISTICALLY, OR WITH A BEST OFFER I WOULD TRY MY LUCK.
OOps. sorry about the caps lol.
Biggest offender for me is footballprogrammes_warehouse. Has some really good items that I would love to buy, but the prices arent realistic I'm afraid. The items are listed again and again always with the same price. I often have thought about making alist of the items I would like and emailing them an offer, never have got round to it though. A poster here at all??? |

I am not sure how it all works ? If an item is not bought, then does the seller re-list it again for free? If so, for how long? This is the only reason i can understand why they re-list. Otherwise it seems maddness for example, say pay £5 in fees for a £200 programme that does not sell. Then to re list it say six times that would be £30. Surely it would be better just to knock £30 off the price of the programme and see if it gets sold. |

but you are dead right. I must have seen this programme 100 times and he still asks £50. I sold a excellent copy some time back for £25. I will be collecting my pension and will still be seeing this one...... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Sunderla.....483e0615e4 ( now watch someone go and buy it lol) |

..all depends if the seller has a shop on ebay cos he can re-list the same item monthly for 20p,5p..or even 1p!..depending on the shop subscription he has.. |

They know that one day someone will come along and buy it for that price at a one off, that is why they continually relist them I imagine. |

I think for someone without an ebay shop it costs 20p to list a Buy it Now for a month, so that would be £2.40 a year.
£2.40 a year to list say a £75 item isn't much although i suppose the £2.40s mount up if there are dozens of different items listed.
I have been eyeing a footballprogrammes_warehouse BIN that has been on for a few weeks.Bolton v Arsenal 48/49 is one of only two post war Bolton v Arsenals I need and £34.99 isn't a bad price.Maybe only a tenner or so more than it would sell for in an ebay auction. It's just that in a market where I bought the rarer 47/48 issue for about £35 I'm reluctant to pay a tenner over the odds for anything. |

I have recently been watching some teamsheets with interest.
They had all been listed at £2.99 with "free" postage.
I emailed the seller - said I was interested in 13 and would they be interested in a deal.
I would have paid £25 for them all but £3 for each is way too much (2000's teamsheets) - even that was overpaying.
Got a reply that - we dont do deals and what we ask is what we want and not a penny less.
Seller has now listed these 4 times. Take into account listing fees (Buy it nows), FVF and Paypal fees I recon that if they should sell this time around they will still net less than what I would have paid.
Add on the additional listing fees when they are listed again and again |

Aye, it’s a bug bear of mine.
Boris_Coach on ebay (a lot of you have encountered him) has a Scotland away ticket I need. He listed it on BIN for something like £25 and it never moved, I made him a reasonable offer which was refused (as did a few others by the look of it at the time). He then INCREASED the BIN price to £40 and it is still there with him still turning down offers.
Is it an ego trip for some of these sellers? “Look what I have, I know that a lot of you want it but you need to pay over the odds to get it”.
There are of course other examples. I would have thought in many cases, particularly when it’s a business, that for example it’s better to take £45 now for an item than wait 12 months or more for £60? _________________ https://www.flickr.com/photos/footballprogrammes/albums |

This annoys me like it seems to annoy most on here.
An example that makes me chuckle: A well known dealer from the Midlands had several Leeds mid 1950's homes for sale, all BIN for about 20 quid. Some of these were a good prices whilst others were simply ridiculous. Anyway, he had 2 available that I needed (Mick Hewitt had sold out), one was worth the asking price the other wasn't (imo) so instead of the 40 quid asking price I offered 30 quid. His reply was along the lines of I am not going to give them away.
I did eventually buy the one that I thought warranted that price tag and found the other elsewhere later on. This was around Easter time of 2010, the same very programme is still on eBay today!!
I understand that the dealers want to make a living but surely 30 quid in the bank is better than a 'potential' 40 quid in assets? _________________ Nuts and Bolts Web Design

I thought the idea of running a business is to sell things and hopefully make a profit. Sometimes the profits may not be great, but you move on. What would happan to a store that didn't want to take part in the Christmas sales and refused ever to discount their stock ? People just wouldn't bother. Like these sellers.I just find their stuff boring, seeing it all the time. I think it is just an ego thing. All of us could list our good stuff with silly prices knowing that they will never sell, just to show off. That is not a business. In fact , 99 percent of the time, when i do a search, i look at auctions only. This cuts out the crap and you are left with the good stuff. In all the years of ebay i have seen only two bargin "buy it nows." |

agree with all the comments and just wanted to add my amazement at it all.
Footballprogrammes warehouse like their online site (footballprogrammes.com) has prices approx double any other dealer yet obviously has a working business model as been in business a long time. I virtually never buy from them but on one occassion a ffew months ago they had something on ebay i wanted at about £10 more than i was willing to pay. So i emailed them an offer and they accepted it.
The group selling the teamsheets for £2.99 have a bunch of prewar arsenals listed for the most ridiculous prices. All the items they are listing are those that have not sold on their auctions. Hopefully they will see sense soon and realise money in the bank is worth more than an high priced unsold item.
I suppose in the end all it takes is one person to pay a dealers price to vindicate them and I assume there are people out there who do so otherwise these dealers would not be trading. So i suppose bottom line is we only have collectors to blame in the end. |

It's not only BIN's which are a pain, some of them put them on as BIN's or BEST OFFER. I saw something which I wanted with a BIN of £15.00 so I put in a best offer of £12.00 which I thought reasonable, result was it was turned down. When I next looked later in the day the BIN had been upped to £25.00, seems like someone was trying to rip people off. |

Ebay has killed out business to be honest. We have thousands of 'new' programmes. 90s/00s. They are all mint condition what we put on ebay, but we only ever started them at 99p. I don't know the full details, but didn't they then start charging for the listing of 99p items, or for relisting them? We used to have 400/500 items on at a time. We would relist a couple of times if they didn't sell, but the majority of the time they did sell after a couple of times. |

I've been looking at some VERY similar BIN £2.99 sheets, but there's no chance I'll pay that much for them either. They'll all turn up in time at £1 each if you're patient.
That said, I've picked up half a dozen very decently priced BIN items over the years that would have raised considerably more auctioned from a low price. _________________ Newest programme wanted:
