Shouldn’t this topic be “Not so new overpriced website”? I wouldn’t give up the day job. I can’t imagine that the turnover is going to be anything to write home about. Good luck at those prices you will need it. Obviously Ebay isn’t considered a competitor. |

£7.50 for a match ticket for Grantham v Coventry City in a pre-season friendly !!!
It only cost £5 to get in on the night, that included the ticket
How on earth you can call that cheap, you must have some serious overheads to cover if you have pricing this high.
With regards the 100's of other tickets not yet listed, I wouldn't bother wasting your time if that is any indication into your pricing, you won't be selling many !!
You've acheived your aim, getting people to visit the site, but none will hang around given your over the top pricing, so please stop spamming the board with your web address, it's embarrassing |

There's an inter league game on there for £12.50 that I bought on ebay for £3 last year. I thought I overspent at £3 |

just glanced at the Manchester United section which was presumably the object of the exercise anyway.
didn't have to glance long though.
the sort of shit fodder from the mid 1970's that the dealers can't sell for 50p at programme fairs are available for only £4 to £4.50 plus P&P.
behave!!!
this is why the hobby is failing to bring in new blood.
little Johnny should be able to buy 20 programmes from the 70's and 80's for £5 plus free admission into a programme fair.
that might get some kids interested.
kids become men and men become serious collectors. |

Would also like to thank those of you who have e-mailed me with your support ..Cheers! |

i think with regards to pricing, its entirely upto you what you price your items at, but i wonder how many sales you actually get?
who in their right mind would pay £15 for something that they could get elsewhere (namely ebay) for £3/£4!?
If you are getting loads of sales then fairplay (more fool the buyers for not looking around) but when puting prices that high then surely you wouldnt get many buyers.

How patronizing is that? There's more to this hobby than just Manchester united!
In defence of the original poster, so what if he's giving a plug to his website, you've obviously all had a look, and are now slating the lad. If you don't like his prices then don't pay them.
There are some programme dealers and auctioneers out there, of which many of you on this forum think that the sun shines from their backsides who overprice their stock, and let nothing is said about that. |

not quite sure where you are coming from on this one sharrowblade.
why am i being patronizing when i mention Manchester United?
i am a Manchester United collector and understand Manchester United prices so it is natural for me to go to his Manchester United section and look at his prices and comment on them.
i don't need to comment on any other clubs but if you want me to comment i can confirm i have now gone back and looked at the prices of his programmes and tickets of other clubs.
although clearly not having the same knowledge of other clubs prices as Manchester United i would like to say that it appears to me that his prices are somewhere between treble and 5 times what you would expect them to be.
now if you consider that patronizing then i can confirm you are correct.
you mention "in defence of the original poster"" so what if he's giving his site a plug"
if you take time to read back before piling in,you will see that this was the point of the thread.
nobody minded him giving a plug to his site.it was the 5th plug that people were getting fed up about as they could see the 6th,7th and 8th plugs coming and had seen enough. |

I think this was what Sharrow was getting at.....you can reda it both ways.
One way is, "The bloke has advertised his web site and the most important section is obviously Manchester United" or the other way of reading it is;
"The bloke has advertised his web site and I've taken a look at the Man utd section, which was obviously his aim, to get me to look at his web site".
I think you get my drift. I can see how Sharrow may have misread your post.
At the end of the day, I don't give a sh1t, I don't collect tickets!!!

Poor bloke was only trying to drum up some trade and if he had something that nobody else had and you really wanted it then im sure you pay what he was asking, come on guys its about encouragement not shoot someone downs in flames, prices might be a little high but could have been alot nicer about the way it was said. |

Good morning treble,
I am certainly not accusing you of being patronizing over your knowledge of Manchester United, or your conclusions about prices.
If I'm barking up the wrong tree (it wouldn't be the first time) and I have caused offence Ray, I apologize, it was simply that phrase came over in a condescending tone.
As for 'piling in', and the point of the thread, I understand if Craig was concerned about spamming up the board, perhaps a quiet word by PM would have been better, but from then on it appeared to descend into some kind of witch-hunt, (About Prices) - (Pitch forks and torches waiting by the side of the keyboard).
I take on board your point about little Johnny, and to a point I agree, but there are so many other things available to youngsters nowadays, that perhaps a Fiver on a Ben 10 toy which they can play with seems a little more attractive than a bunch of old programmes.
To the OP's credit, few websites have such detailed descriptions. |

sharrowblade
no offence taken.
to be honest i spend too much time taking Paddy Crerand to Manchester United away games and as a result i am probably becoming a crabby bad tempered old bastard like him.
i think i probably just enjoy a good row.
you are correct about the programme and ticket site though.
if the prices are right then he will sell and if not he will struggle and will only,at best, find a few unsuspecting buyers who will not return once they realise they have overpaid.
certainly not a business with a long term future.
also i do fear for the hobby.
those of us that have the "bug" will collect forever but the new blood,in my opinion, is not about.
so many big collections have been sold over the last 5 years that it has to be a concern.
the way the hobby has changed was inevitable especially with the advent of feebay but the attitude of so many in the hobby frightens me.
it is and will always be a hobby to me.
something i can have an interest in when i retire but some of the bloodletting that goes on in the name of the hobby concerns me.
there is so much genuine hatred between both dealers and collectors(won't mention names) and i had to think hard before i used the word hatred.
i have probably diversified the thread again and as such will probably get a bollocking off the admin side of the forum but as i said i like a good row!!!he he he |

My original point was for him to stop spamming. If i hadnt someone else would have posted it anyway. I agree his prices are high but thats his choice.
I have never bollocked you and havent even really read the forum for a while properly as im too busy so i have no idea what your on about. |

Not a joke when the forum actually requires moderation because of all the shit being stirred by everyone. The site is run free of charge for everyone and i dont have time to read everything and intervene when people just reduce threads to slanging matches. |
