I didn't see MOTD but I am guessing that he is really talking about a longer time period and the amount of player investment over last 3-4 years. I don't know Wolves spending over that time so that could still be way off the mark but in order to have the kind of squad necessary to be competitive in the premiership needs to be built over several years. Thus one high spending summer although a step in the right direction can only really get you a few players and not a whole squad. Maybe thats what he meant.
However I think Shearer is a tool regardless of what he said. I never liked him as a player, nor the way he got special treatment from refs/FA because he was England "superstar" nor the way he whinged and moaned when a defender touched him yet was happy to dish it out. On MOTD he never says anything insightful and there are far better pundits than him. So overall agree that he is a tool. |

I'd imagine Wolves budget is still in the bootm 3/4 in the division. Transfer fees aren't as important as wages these days and Wolves can't compete with the big boys.
None of which distracts from the main point of course. Shearer is, indeed, a tool |

Totaly agree with you. I have hated Shearer as long as I can remember. He was a twat of a player and nothing has changed. Don't watch motd though as have no interest in the Prem prima donnas but can imagine that he would be useless as a pundit. _________________ I am not gas, I am a Pirate.

MOTD is a waste of time. Everton are always described as 'physical' and there's nearly always an excuse to put them at the back of the programme for 2 mins worth of highlights (not relegation, not top of table blah blah blah). If they simply spread the highlights across the hour and occasionally concentrated on the rest of the division (ie not the so-called big 4) then people might be a little bit more interested. Some of the highlights I've seen bare little resemblance to the games I've been to - and in fact sometimes they are so bad it's almost a joke. 2-3 years ago we scored a fantastic goal at Spurs - 4 or 5 touches from our box to theirs with Johnson putting in the final touch - what did MOTD do for the Goal of the Month? Abbreviate it to the final 2-3 passes - sorry but it's not good enough!
I'd definitely watch it more if they put the games at the top of the programme on merit..
Rant over. |

Might be an improvement if they did away with the commentators and "pundits"and just showed the highlights of all the games.Would save some money and I dont know anybody who would object.... |

Got to agree with ToffeeDan. A couple of times last year Wolves played really well against top sides. The best performance at the Mol for me was against Chelsea where we were really unlucky not to get something from the game. Petr Chech got man of the match from everyone for the series of fabulous saves he pulled off. MOTD highlights made it look like we were played off the park and lucky to only lose two.
Since then Ive lost interest in the programme _________________ FPC Predictor Cup Winner 2013

One of the best experiences of my football watching "career" was when Newcastle came to Cleethorpes for a League Cup tie in 2005 and after putting his elbows everywhere Shearer was done by Town's Rob Jones and given a thick lip. As the game was on the telly the deed received maximum coverage. Our website set up a page where fans from other teams could "congratulate" Jones...ran to about 30 pages as I recall... |

The way MOTD reduce a game to a 2 chances each story when sometimes its 12-2 really is a joke. Your average tv viewer wants exciting abbreviated snapshot but the truth is better. Obviously on Sunday's they can't cut 1 or 2 games down to next to nothing but we all know which sides play on Sunday so it doesn't happen. Let's take Liverpool v Arsenal - the first 45 mins were non-existent - then Joe Cole was (slightly harsh) red-carded .. I didn't watch the highlights but I dare say there weren't many.
On another note Blackburn v Everton was a dreadful game - not just for Evertonians to watch - I'd have given up on it if I was a neutral. |
