Try using ebays current listings and also their completed listings to try and ascertain the value of programmes. |

It's news to me, mate, I would suggest the programme in question is United v Derby from that season |

Just out of interest, how much is the United v Derby programme worth from that season? I bought a copy years ago for a tenner and was told there were only 50 copies (but wasn't told why). |

Offer any programme dealer a quid & they'll be happy. Neither the Arsenal nor Direby programmes against Sheffield United from that season are scarce. |

Just to confirm that we are talking:- Sheffield United v Direby County 1990/91? If so, a quick check with the likes of Steve Earl, Dave Allen & Brentside confirm that all three have the programme in stock starting at £1.00. Time to fill your boots if it's "rare". _________________ http://www.footballprogrammes.webs.com/ |

Lads, I hear what you're saying, but sometimes things aren't quite so black & white. Just because Steve Earl, Brentside, Dave Allen, Mick Hewitt, Dick Rattray and anyone else you care to mention have a Copy of Sheffield United v Derby County 1990/1 marked down as 75p or a £1 means they have 'a' copy, it does not mean they have 'the' copy. |

There were definitely 2 different programmes for Sheff United v Derby in the 1990/91 season. The postponed game is rare as far as I'm aware, the other is very common (and I assume the one on Brentside and Steve Earl). I'm away from home so do not have my records but will look on Saturday and post the details then. |

Yep, there was indeed 2 copies. 8/12/90 and 26/1/91.
The story of the 8/12/90 programme has entered into local programme collectors folklore.
The game in december was called off due to heavy snow overnight and the dressing rooms were underwater. Someone at the club ordered that the programmes be returned to the printers to be pulped. (we'd do anything to save money)
A local programme shop owner, who shall remain nameless caught whiff of this and went down to the printers on sunday morning. Finding the loading bay doors open and finding a huge pile of boxes, he borrowed one, for want of a better word. This is why there is said to be only 50 copies knocking about.
This is of course, only hearsay and there's no proof, and parts of the tale may have been changed or fabricated, but that is the story behind the Utd/Derby 8/12/90 |
