Not sure about anybody else but it really annoys me. I dont know if the item was received and then have to go round individually emailing people if they were happy with their transaction.

I will never get to the next star colour on ebay at this rate! Very Happy

I currently have 17 people who are still to leave me feedback from 1-2 months ago and I think items get deleted after 60 days after sale. Mad

In my mind it is only a matter of courtesy for the buyer to leave feedback at the earliest opportunity, this shows that the transaction is complete. When selling I always leave feedback when payment is made .

Yeah spot on posh, thats the way I see it. I normally leve 2-3 weeks before chasing feedback up.

One bloke the other day bought an item and had not left feedback for a month so I emailed him asking if everything was ok and if so could he leave me some feedback. Then he replied by email saying the item had been received and everything was excellent yet didnt leave me feedback through ebay.

He only had a 10 feedback score so I assume he didnt know how to use the ebay feedback system other than emailing people about how things went. Very Happy

If people fail to leave feedback I send them a message asking them to do so.

Although I always leave feedback I think people just forget or, as you mention, don't know how to use it. If they were unhappy customers though I think you'd hear from them. I wouldn't worry about it.

Personally I never leave feedback unless it is needed - ie negative.

Feedback is optional not required so the people you have dealt with may just be choosing to not leave feedback - The whole ebay reliance o feedback is a great red herring anyway. Some of the worst people I have dealt with have had feebacks in the thousands at 99.5%.

A lot of sellers also refused to leave any feedback when ebay brought in the ridiculous - you can only leave good feedback to a buyer - not neutral or negative.

I think i'd be close to 5000 now if people had bothered, i know some ebayers only leave feedback once the buyer or seller of the item leaves it them first but if you got two like minded people neither would leave it, i always leave feedback once an item is received or paid for but find probably only about 50-60% of people actually bother.

Why does it matter if you are 4799 or 4800. Its not the positives that tell you about how people behave - it is neutrals and negatives.

OK you might be close to the next colour star - big whup.

One of England's full time dealers once had the cheek to email me asking for feedback after he'd had to refund the programme because he had advertised a 55/56 issue as a 54/55 one without a photo.

Fortunately for the seller it was too late to leave feedback..

I always leave feedback but in my case 5% of sellers haven't bothered (I have something like 1,100 instances of feedback with nearly 1,200 given)

I have given negative feedback three times only - damaged goods, not received (twice).

It's just pure laziness on their part to not reciprocate.

I do agree partially that sellers can't give negative feedback but one might argue once payment has been received, assuming it is prompt enough, there is little or no reason for the seller to not be satisfied (barring of course the awkward buyer) but one assumes a reputable seller will have described the item correctly and sent the item relatively promptly and won't have any cause to expect negative feedback.

One item I sent didn't arrive and of course I had to resolve this - with a refund. Happily the buyer was both understanding and tolerant that these things happen with the post - but you can get a bad 'un (and of course they could even be lying)

The truth is, the seller should ALWAYS leave feedback first. It is the buyer who completes the transaction, not the seller. Seller leaves feedback for receiving payment and nothing else. I get really upset when sellers argue otherwise.
I am currently waiting for feedback from two sellers and two buyers. In one case, I have been waiting for four weeks now. They have all been contacted to no avail.
I used to leave negative feedback as a matter of course for sellers that didn't leave feedback after prompt payment was made. Obviously I got a few negs in return. Sellers can't leave negs now, so maybe I should readopt this policy although I am sure that sellers would block me from bidding. Maybe if a few people would do the same, sellers would be forced into changing their attitude.

If I sell something I leave feedback at the earliest opportunity, sometimes I forget but will get there in the end....

If I buy something I will always leave feedback regardless of whether the seller does or not.

It is very annoying if people don't leave feedback and can ultimately cost people money, if the same item is at the same price from 2 different sellers then most people would go with the higher rating, so it's not necessarily about the star but about simple economics.

I would also add that feedback is probably more important for new members trying to build a reputation.
