Morning all.

This morning i was greeted with 2 emails from Ebay.

The First...............
We're writing to let you know your account has fallen below eBay's minimum seller performance standards on eBay.co.uk.

One or more of the following factors have contributed to this change:
-- Low detailed seller ratings (1s and 2s)
-- Negative and neutral feedback
-- Cases filed for items not as described or items not received

Please be aware that your listings may receive lower standing in search results until our minimum standards are met.

And the Second explaining the area where i have fallen short......
We've noticed that you may not be meeting buyer expectations, as indicated by your detailed seller ratings (DSRs). We've identified the following areas you can work on to improve your performance on eBay:

***Charge reasonable postage and packaging***

So i checked my account and 4 people are not happy with the 60p i charge for posting my Tickets.
Yes 60p.....not £1.00 or £1.25 like someothers !

For 60p the buyers recieve as many tickets they have won.
I send my tickets between boardbacked envelopes cut in half and put in an envelope with "DO NOT BEND" written on the front. So buyers are getting two lots of card for protection and sent First Class.

AM I RIPPING PEOPLE OFF AND GIVING THEM A SHIT DEAL?

All feedback gladly welcome.

The detailed seller ratings are shite

when you go to leave feedback you have to click on the 5 stars to rate and sometimes it doesnt even register that you have put 5 and stays on 1 i think this might have been your problem and the fact that some people dont even check to see what they leave, its a very flawed system

You are not alone, I used to have 400 listed, now i can't be bothered.
One of my favourite dealers is now no longer registered 1959fuzzy. I contacted him and it's the same, ebays bullying policy and their disregard for sellers.
Buyers rule on there and they call the shots. Until there's a competent alternative we're stuck with ebay.
Stick them on the forum, free of charge and hassle.

There are some unreasonable people/utter cocks buying things and leaving bad feedback on ebay.

One time I had a book for auction, free postage to UK bidders with no international postage offered and yet an Australian bid for it and expected free postage to Australia.I told them "If you want it i'll post it for £8 " ,without weighing it.They agreed to this, it cost me around £9 to post and they ended up moaning about the expensive postage on the feedback and leaving one star in all the categories despite not having a problem with the quality of the book.

Had my first negative a couple of weeks ago, the buyer bidded and won a programme then marked the item as payment sent, they then contacted me 2 weeks later asking where the programme was, I said when I recieve your payment I will post your programme, they then claimed to have paid with pay-pal, anyway to cut a long story short they left me a negative saying they paid by via pay-pal twice!!

An alternative auction site is ebid theyve re-done all there catorgories and jazzed the site up.

Ebid only charge 3% final sellers fees (if you join up it could be 0%) as opposed to ebays 10%, so if you sell a programme on ebid for £10.00 your fsf would be 30p on ebay it would be £1.00, think its about time sellers started moving over, I think its also free to open up a shop (not sure though).

Problem with Ebay is they listen to the buyers not the sellers, what they would be better doing is listening to what sellers want as well, lets face it without sellers there wouldn't be any buyers.
As for your charge of 60p to post tickets, this is reasonable. What some buyers tend to do is look at the stamp and if it says 40p they think that is what they should be charged, but forget that envelopes etc cost money. As long as the price of p/p is stated in the auction the buyer knows what they are going to pay, so they don't have to bid.
What buyers would also like to consider is if the seller is running it as a business then they have more overheads to cover than private sellers.
SO IF THEY ARE NOT HAPPY WITH THE CHARGES DON'T BID.

There are two sides to this. I have to have my items shipped to me overseas. Generally the regular postage price is 1.80 to 2 quid. Last week I bought a ticket (for 4 pounds) and am being charged 4 pounds on top for the postage (regular postage, not recorded or anything). Of course I could have asked first, so it's my fault. It's not uncommon for sellers to add on a couple of quid like that. I'll leave positive feedback but will note the high postage cost at the same time.
And yes - 60p is perfectly reasonable.

I don't see why buyers are allowed to give feedback on the cost of postage. As long as postage costs are publicised and agreed to beforehand then how can the buyer complain when they win the item?

As for your 60p for posting tickets Mr. Gas, obviously that's not excessive. Did they say anything else about it or just leave ratings?

The problem with ebay as well is that these emails you've had are automated once you get a certain amount of low ratings, even if you reply now I doubt you'd actually get a response from them.

The buyer is asked "how reasonable were the P&P charges?". I've been charged as little as 50p and as much as 6 pounds. Exactly the same postage cost in stamps, same packing. It would be unreasonable to leave negative feedback for high postage but it's not unreasonable to point out an excessive charge for P&P.
But I was talking about when the postage cost isn't stated because some sellers don't list an overseas rate. But as I said that's my fault for not asking beforehand.

I think Paul's right Gas (not just because he's a Forest fan!!). I can't imagine anybody in their right mind could moan about paying 60p for p+p charges, so it must be an error. I disagree with Geddon though (sorry!!). I know that p+p charges are stated, but that still doesn't justify charging excessive p+p costs - it circumvents ebay charges, and I just think its an underhand way of bumping up the price of an item. Sorry, but its one of my pet hates on ebay.

Concur fully with the "knobhead" scenario. I've not filled in the ratings on ebay for over a year, albeit I give a detailed response in the comments section. I had somebody complain about my postage once because I recycle everything that comes through my letter box - regardless of the fact that it actually kept costs down, the twat wasn't happy because it wasn't a mint condition envelope. There's no pleasing some people, especially those of the fuckwit tendency...

No Gas, You're not ripping off anybody with those prices mate. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Virtually every seller ratings are lower in P&P and Dispatch time than Item Description. There's just no pleasing some people. I've had people take 10 days to pay, and then aren't happy if the item hasn't arrived next day.

However, I'd be sending a polite but forceful email to ebay's administration stating the facts. SB

It seems like Ebay have gone from one extreme to the other. People were complaining about excessive p+p charges for ages and they did nothing. Now it seems they're penalising the wrong people.

My cousin once admitted to me he deliberately increased P&P prices as he could make more money on that then on some of the things he was selling.
He's an estate agent now, so tells you all you need to know about him really.

I find it hard to work out P&P, but have a copy of Royal Mail charges and usually add on about 50p-£1 for cost of an envelope (eg A4 card-backed envelopes cost me £2 for 5 from WHSmith).
But first few things I put on for £1 P&P, then got the post office and cost me £1.50-£2 - which meant I lost money on an item selling for 99p (only 1p, but you see my point).

60p sounds very reasonable

Cheers for the Feedback chaps.

Looking at my stats, i think some Knob-jockeys had given me 1 star in each cat.

I give full discriptions, note ALL faults, if any and 60p postage clearly written, post within 48hrs, cant do anymore.

So will add to discription from now on......
DO NOT BID IF YOU'RE A RETARD. Laughing

Happy Christmas. Love Mr G. xxx
