Sorry to dig up old stories, but this seller amazes me!
He is selling a cigarette booklet of football players that you can pick up relatively cheaply at he is already at 60 odd quid!

Is he the original Del Boy of Ebay or is he up to no good?
Confused

Ive never bought anything from him but he does seem to always get top dollar for his items. Maybe its because his descriptions are very thorough although I think there is something fishy about some of his items going so high. Has anyone on here bought from him?

I praised him a few weeks ago for good advertising but now suspect it is suspicious bidding. My parents picked up the very same collection of Wills cards for £6 at an antiques fair in Devon last year. When I looked them up £6 was about right.

My point precisely Old Bolt, I don't mind people getting lucky, but I suspect somebody is being rolled over here as I can't see more than two people getting carried away over a bog standard card collection!
I really would like to know if anyone has bought off him/her here as i am beginning to smell something fishy going on.

look at his feedback, all his sales have been private.......I think that tells you all you need to know.

It's now up to £88!! His name is Chris Reece and he has 2 eBay accounts...... 1 for selling (manori2006) and 1 for buying (tharaka09). Draw your own conclusions.

With private listings other people can't tell if the bids and sales are genuine and can't see the feedback to see if the item was actually paid for.The seller may have several different accounts and be bidding up the items themself and then claim an unpaid item strike to get the commission back from ebay if a genuine bidder doesn't bid.It wouldn't cost the seller any money in that case.
I wouldn't believe someone had paid that much over the odds until i could see the feedback but that isn't allowed with private listings.

Surely ebay can see if the ISP coding for the seller matches the buyer's - that is if the bid is being placed from the same computer/location etc. etc.

Ebay should be able to check the ISP code but whether they do prevent bids from the same computer is another matter. And as you say if bids are put in from other computers by the same person there is nothing they can do about that.
If we could see feedback for the item in a few days then we would know the seller had paid the 10% commision and be satisfied it was a genuine sale.

I'm sure I have the very same item hidden away somewhere in my loft, picked up for £5 about 15 years ago if memory serves me.

With 444 views, 25 bidders and presently bid up to £128, i'm very tempted to dig it out and place it on Ebay.

I might put mine on, make it a private auction and get my relatives to bid it up to £500 on the off chance someone thinks it must be special and and is duped into bidding a silly amount.
If noone falls for it, i'll tell ebay the winning bidder didn't pay so i'll not have to pay any commission.Noone will be able to check the feedback so will only be able to speculate on whether I really sell it or not.

How much is your house worth Laughing

No, you're quite correct and as you mention it's true worth is approx what I paid, there or thereabouts. The devil inside is till tempting me though. Smile

Just about to post the same thing! I note there is more activity regarding this seller on another thread.
Interesting to know whether this item actually sold or not.

I am almost 100% certain this was listed a few weeks ago by same seller. If it was rare then how come another one turns up so soon .There is something not quite right about the items ,and bidding with this seller.A few weeks ago a reproduction Man.utd single sheet from 1945 was being bid for at £59+ .The item when photo enlarged clearly stated reproduction on foot of programme.Whoever bought this must have spotted it.Who would pay that price for an item easily obtained and not even an original?

if you check his buying account he has bought several of the Wills albums in last month for a few quid each.........which also makes it suspicious that so many are available for less than £10 a time yet his one went for a ridiculously large sum.
