I've seen this ebay seller be mentioned elsewhere on this forum. I've just found this on ebay...

I've got him listed on my ebay favourites. I think he's a part time dealer who is very clever at drumming up interest in his programmes. Forget all this gonads about collecting for years.

If you look at his current items, he has Newcastle/Blackburn FA semi on there. He had that very same programme on available a few weeks ago. You can tell by the tape mark on the programme.

It obviously didn't reach what he thought it should, so used a dummy account to buy it.

He did the same with a 49 semi a couple of months ago.

Does have some interesting stuff though

Jim Thumbs Up

Im sick of seeing his listings appear everytime I do a search as he lists so many teams in the description boxes..
Event hought about sending him a question as to why his prog. might be relevant to a Notts. collector .
Having said all this he certainly seems successful. The 56/57 Huddersfield v Notts prog."Dennis Laws first match blah blah.."went for about 10 times more than I paid for my copies!!!

I complained to eBay about his listing every programme he sells in every possible category. I am fed up of searching for Burnley reserve issues only to have to plough through Yeovil friendlies and the like. Of course eBay didn't deign to reply.

I emailed him complaining about him listing the Bolton vs Liverpool 57-8 programme as "mega rare" He's obviously being disingenuous here as it's common as muck. He sent back a very patronising reply, which has been replied to appropriately.

Didn't your mothers ever tell you it's not very polite to talk behind someone's back Wink
If anyone wants to ask me a question then feel free,i have no objection at all,and i will gladly come on here and answer them.
What i do not do myself, and find it wrong in others is to think i am some sort of Judge and tell someone what they can and can't put in their listings.
Especially when the person concerned does not even provide a scan in his own listings.
I am sure most of you have read som of my listings, thanks to the free advertising on here,so you are aware of the time and effort i spend providing as much information as possible for everyone(including on most occasions more than just the free scan that EBAY offer) even though some can't even be bothered to do that.
I also spend my own money on other embellishments, and try to inject some humour.

ran out of space sorry.
Anyway my point is that, like everyone else i will promote my product as best i can,and use words that help to do that.
So if i decide to use the words "mega rare" to describe a programme then i will do that, and NOBODY has the right to suggest i am conning people. If you noticed John i even took the option of adding your message to the listing,so everyone could see your opinion.
I get a lot of feedback through dozens of messages every week, some from people that don't actually buy from me.
And virtually every one says how much they like reading my listings,so i must be doing something right.
I have also helped many people find programmes that i havent got,and spent hours searching for them, and contacting people i have got to know cover the years for help. Some of the older ones amongst you will remember in the early days thats how it was,we all helped each other.
Any of you that were members of the original British programme collectors club

will remember those days.
Whatever anyone thinks of me or my ways of doing things cant argue with the fact that virtually every single one i list sells, and i have many people come back over and over again because of the product and the service i provide.
I do not treat it like a production line and bang 300 ads on a day with no description or feeling and then wonder why i didnt get any bids.
I could list on here prices that would amaze you that i have sold programmes for to people all over the world.
I have been reading the forum this evening and just as an example someone was asking what a WOLVES V HONVED programme would sell for,2 or 3 people replied agreeing with each other that it was virtually worthless and would fetch a few quid.I sold that programme about 3 weeks ago for £70
I also sold a 57/8 Man Utd v Ipswich (without token) for £170 and that had FIVE different people that bid over £100.
I could go on but you get the gist.

I will now answer each individual point raised on this thread briefly Smile
and feel free to ask me anything, but before being critical ask yourselves,as i am sure many of you sell on ebay.
Do you have 20+ "watchers" for every listing
Do you sell every programme you list
Can you sell a programme for £32 that has 10 more on ebay for 99p without a bid.
I currently have a listing that two hours ago had 97 "watchers" there may be a few more now.The most i have had is 578.
So i think i know what i am doing John
And no i DO NOT and HAVE NEVER boosted a bid,or got anyone to buy a programme.
It is something i wouldn't dream of doing,i would rather give a programme away than do that.
Take Care Everyone and i promise my future contributions will not be as long as this one

Thanks Jim(well almost Laughing )
I am trying to remember wgat you wrote now.
Everything at the top is absolutely true FACT
i am not a dealer FACT
The semi you refer to from a few weeks ago,i actually had 3 copies, all sold seperately within a few weeks of each other.
I used to buy many collections, and very often the same progs woukl turn up over and over again,i would keep them and/or swap.
The other one you are actually mistaken because this is the only time i have sold this programme.
Anyway keep looking and feel free to bid if you fancy anything, might even throw a freebie in if you tell me who you are Smile

INTERESTING POINT
I would counteract it by saying that a few people have written to say they have bought a prog that otherwise they wouldnt have seen on their normal searches.
If you go into tesco for heinz beans, would you complain about all the other brands being on the same shelf? Wink

TWO VICTOR MELDREWS Ayatollah
GOOD FOR EBAY,IT DID'NT DESERVE A REPLY
Tell me, if you booked space for a full page ad in a newspaper, would you just put a tiny bit in the corner.
I pay a lot of money to advertise with EBAY and i am going to utilise that to its maximum.
You can see what my listings are so dont look at them.
What you should be complaining about are those that advertise something that looks great, and when you have gone in and read the listing it says at the end its a FAKE
NOW THAT IS ANNOYING MR MELDREW

To provide some balance to this debate I have bought a couple of items from this seller and the service is great. His sales technique may irritate some but it obviously works so who are we to judge. he is not forcing anyone to make high bids, so good luck to him.

I've no problem buying from him if he has something I am really after.

It was me who was asking about the Wolves/Honved by the way.
