Hi. Just wondered who may have bought and why the sale price for the programme for the friendly Northwich Vics v Manchester Utd in 1977 was £750.
I picked that up in Northwich's club shop about 2 years ago for 50p! cheers Bill

An interesting one that. I have quite a few similar Northwich Victoria friendlies and testamonials of that era with similar layouts and opposition but dont' recall ever seeing that one that seems to be in celebration of the Queen's Jubilee. I did donate a sizeable number of duplicate programmes from the 1970's to the club shop about 3/4 years ago, maybe just maybe it was buried in that lot.

Note to self: try and check all pages of programmes before disposal It is amazing what you find sometimes, e.g. a number of referee/linesmans expenses notes for one.

Thanks for the info. Yes there was a lot of seventies stuff which i bought so it was probably in that lot. If you have any more Northwich or Witton early 70's back to the 40's then i would be interested in purchasing. Thanks Bill

Just FYI I own a copy of a Team for all seasons and none of that information is in there (that I could find at least). So next best bet, a Northwich fan with a decent programme collection

I presume that the 9/8/97 Witton v Northwich is a friendly or testimonial, as the season did not start unti the 16th August and both teams were in different divisions.

Yes, just a pre-season friendly, but the database records any matches known to have taken place, as well as postponed, and abandoned

09/08/1997 - Friendly (Often Witton and Northwich played a pre-season game for a trophy, e.g. Guardian Shield but this game appears to have been a simple friendly).

15/12/1992 - Drinkwise Cup 3rd Rnd (Prog reissued from 21/11/1992 so original possibly postponed)

No luck so far on the full names of those players who mostly appear to have made single appearances (according to Team for All Seasons). The programmes from most of those years are pretty sparse and tend to only include surnames.

A. Mudie from 1973/74 though may be related to the manager of the time Jackie Mudie. Will keep looking.
