Well, Les, first of all what an extremely poor description of that lot. There might well have been something extremely valuable not mentioned in the listing of just 23 of the 48 programmes.
From the picture and description, perhaps the Hibernian home and aways were valuable, or maybe the Blackpool v Manchester United issue and the Leeds v ? were worth good money but I assume there must have been others.
I assume more than one person must have asked for a full list of the programmes therein to achieve the resulting hammer price. |

Mitchell's are a general small town auctioneers. So I guess the seller was someone clearing a house out. That's reasonable. But once again we see a collection of programmes from just after the war being sold as a 'job lot'. Would the seller have been better advised to auction them singly? If the collection sold for four figures, then I think the answer would have been, yes. Who wanting just Blackpool post war home would also want all the other unrelated programmes.
So is it just laziness on the part of the auctioneer or the seller just wants rid?
I cannot remember the last time I actually bid for a programme I wanted. |

To be fair here, if it was such a house clearance, the new owner possibly has no knowledge or interest in programmes and is therefore delighted with what they sold for. The auction house the same, the buyer the same, so at the end of the day everyone is happy _________________ www.programmehut.com - The Internet Dealers
