Which lot was it? I was watching the auction but didnt see that massage.
I did suffer some gliches when the feed locked up on me a few times making me miss a lot I was interested in.
I did win one lot though at a reasonable price. |

Only lot that interested me, sold for £170 (£210 including fees), for an item with a £40-£60 estimate _________________ www.programmehut.com - The Internet Dealers

I left some commission bids the day before and registered for the auction. However my application to bid was left 'pending' and none of my commission bids were accepted because of this, or my attempts to bid online. I would have won few too.
I see one lot that interested me was the pre War Cardiff bound volume which sold for £650, and has now appeared on Ebay split up at a total price to buy the lot of c£2500. The seller is kimberley smith, who i don't know, but must have been there to get them and list them so quickly.
Oh well i saved some money i suppose. |

Some of the prices for the Ireland v Wales programmes were laughable. So way over the top it was silly. _________________ http://cardiffcityprogrammes.weebly.com/

Lot 992 looked interesting with some minor Welsh cup items in there plus 2 Hereford vs Newport Herefordshire Senior Cup games which are always collectible. |

Matt, I would have had the Wartime ones, The Villa pre War and I would have won them with my commission bids (unless someone started bidding more anyway). And some Merthyr, Welsh stuff too. Some nice Cardiff friendlies in there.
So sold the Ireland ones for much less than on there, and one on Mullocks was in poor condition. The fees on top are hight too I see.
What did you get Matt? |

I may be missing something here. I note that already a good number have been sold through eBay. So, do collectors still want to buy programmes that are "very damaged"? That is, missing a page or got holes in a page(s), clear number of tears all over a page(s) especially the front page, irrelevant writing on front cover, etc. I can understand team changes, score inside or rusty staples as that is part of the authenticity of the item being bought at the game, but looking at the QPR items at Mullocks, some were very poor and yet obtained somewhat high prices, in my mind. If this is the case, then these, what may be called desperate, buyers are only forcing the prices up for the good items. Am I just misunderstanding the market?

A piece of advice I was given when I started out in the hobby many many moons ago was to buy a programme that you needed on your wants list, didn't matter if it was in poor condition, as you could always buy a better condition one if it ever came up. Sadly though sometimes that may never happen depending on the age of a programme.
As a fan of the club, QPR pre war programmes always seem to go for a shed load of money, and seem to have done for some time now.
Presumably low attendances in the third division accounted for this, as was a different cover design every season making them attractive for collectors, although I also know of several hardcore collectors who are driving costs along, the cost factor also goes way north if the opposition is another London club! |

Oh and another probable reason of why QPR programmes are going for large sums of money is to do with the quantity that you find at these auctions.
Usually less than half a dozen issues, if indeed that at times, find their way to a gavel auction compared with some other London clubs.
In fact only Staceys about five or so years ago have an auction house had a rather huge quantity of QPR programmes for sale, and that was due to a supporter/collector selling up... |
