can anyone identify the players in White

The match is at Maine Road in 1947-8, Dark shirt is Johnny Morris of Mufc BUT WHO IS THE OTHER PLAYER AND WHOM IS HE PLAYING FOR!

It is possible to see the players badge and i think it could be Preston North End-can anyone identify this player and then we shall know the club.

My bad - he says getting down with the kids - had a senior moment in confusing my Derbys and Prestons...

Looked at the muddied kit - ergo had quarter-final on my mind but can recall some semi-finals played in horrendous conditions back in the day - Spammers v MU in '64 was a mud bath.

Still looks more like the Rams' badge and kit though but shall not argue with MUM re the venue...

Hello, I am in agreement with the others on this one and, maybe, add a little more to the answers.
The Derby County player, I feel, is definitely Musson---logic also prevails on this one because he was the player marking Morris during the match----none of this marking space nonsense in those days.
Looking at the Maine Road pitch the lack of grass points to an end of season game suggesting the league fixture in April 1948----the following season the game was played in August even Maine Road had a grass surface for that match---the cup tie match is ruled out because it was played at Sheffield Wednesday.
Just one thing to add, Stan Pearson scored the only goal of the match and that shot of Morris was either saved or went wide.

Yes it was always at Maine Road and the game was played in front of 49,609 with Pearson getting the only goal of the game. The Semi-Final against Derby County at Hillsborough had already been played on the 13th March in front of 63,250 to see a hatrick from Stan Pearson in a 3-1 win.
