I have just received a phone call from Ian Hands who has asked me to pass on the sad news that Tony Rampton passed away on Sunday, 3 April, after a short illness.

Some members will know him as the sporting memorabilia expert at Wessex Auctions whilst others may have dealt with him via his eBay listings under awr3343.

RIP

That's really sad. He was a top fella and we did a lot of business via EBay.

RIP Tony.

Blimey, dropping like flies at the moment.

Bloody hell...
He was such a nice man, unlike the crooks at Cameo who shafted him, he had integrity and if it wasn't for Tony I would have lost a lot of money.
Only had email correspondence with him last month.
Sad

I only met Tony once when he was passing through Macclesfield and outbid me on a tasty lot. He wanted to take the lot with him but the Auction House would not accept a cheque in payment.

Never having met him until that day and only knowing of his connection with Wessex I had to vouch for him that he was legit. The cheque must have cleared as Adam Partridge did not come knocking on my door.

R.I.P. Tony

Another sad loss.

Purchased from him via Ebay quite a few times, and spoke with him via email at Wessex a couple of times. Always fair and honest.

RIP Tony

Such a shame, a great loss to the hobby

I never did any actual business with Tony or even met him, but i spoke to him over the years on the telephone many a time, he was a nice person, open and honest unlike some of the folks he worked with.

Always very sad to hear of a fellow collector who has passed on but Tony had a good name and reputation and THAT you cannot buy.

RIP Tony
