Agreed - very annoying.

Perhaps, as ephemera, no one thought that we would still be looking at them so far in the future.

Or rather, it was the convenience of using the same cover, unchanged, for an entire season.

Yes, annoying.

If you collect non-league from lower down the pyramid, you get used to it.
It's economics, I guess.

From 1957/8 to 1968/9 my club used the same covers through each season with no match details on the front.

1957/8 square, yellow with opening door
1958/9 square, maroon with opening door
1959/60 - 1961/2 square, green with player sketch
1962/3 - 1966/7 square, white with iconic CPFC logo
1967/8 square, white with new short-lived logo
1968/9 oblong with iconic CPFC logo

Luckily, the match details were always on Page 3 so you knew where to look, but it's a pain if you happened to drop them and they got out of order. Many have match numbers or the full details written on the fronts.

Finally, following promotion to Div 1, for 1969/70 the club asked the fans to design a new cover and on the winning entry the fixture was shown in the right place. Hallelujah.

At first I thought this thread was about another frustrating weekend waiting for the phone to ring......... Crying or Very sad

Yes, more frustrating is when they don't have the opposition on the front. Spot something at a fair or in a charity shop, and often you can work out, or at least narrow down, the season by the cover design. But without the opposition, 20 odd clubs fans will stop and have a look instead of just two.

Or even worse, if someone has scrawled the opposition in ink on the front! Sad
