That'd be this victory, Sydenham....
Secured off Ebay maybe 10 years ago with a mate (we went halves) and shared between us on rotation every so often.
Superb hand-made item, a one-off obviously. It folds up into a square about 1.5 inches in size.
Southern League Palace, in our second full season, went and won 1-0 at League Champions-elect Newcastle. And a local guy made this. Hats off to him. Or cap off, anyway. |

Check out the National Football Collection website it shows 22 different similar badges won at a Bonhams auction in 2008 for £1,320 I believe |

Hi Pete, I was one of the unsuccessful bidders when you bought it 10 years ago, great item, i am glad someone went to the trouble to commemorate such an amazing result, i wonder if there is anything else out there that was produced to celebrate such an acheivement |

Absolutely love these old tin badges.
When I started collecting all badges had to be enamel but these old tin badges have a charm about them.
Picked this one up last year issued in 1926

The replies to my original post are brilliant.... I really appreciate it all. I have tried not to collect tin badges as a rule but it looks like I missed out as was only willing to pay up to £50 for it.
Got in touch with the official Chelsea club historian, Rick Glanvill who was a tiny bit sceptical himself as he could not believe that such a badge would survive to this date without going opaque. Also, he notes that at the time Bakelite had to be used rather than varnish. The players in the picture (such as Halse and McRoberts) fit the bill and he confirms (as many of you also kindly did) that such pin buttons existed at the time.
Learnt my lesson then!
PS why no cartoons of Chelsea 0 Norwich 0 from the late 80e where I nearly fell asleep? |

I love the old tin bages on this thread with the team groups. As Dorking suggests it looks like they were created asa collage of head shots.... that was some painstaking work in 1907 or whatever! They are so well done you'd think thery were cobbled together with photoshop and a modern printer, which I think is testimony to the workmanship in these badges. |
