Hi
I was wondering if anyone can help...

I'm having to sell my collection of Manchester United programmes, it's evident I'm going to make a monumental loss on them, but hay that's life! I wanted to know if anyone knows the best option, shall I sell them season by season? How much should I look to get? Or shall I sell them as the whole collection? Does anyone have any recommendations on who or where I can get the best price?

I have over 2000 programmes, home/ away cup finals, testimonials, friendlies, youth, reserves, European home and away from various seasons

I would appreciate any feedback or anyone who can point me in the right direction

Many thanks

Rob

You don't say what seasons they are. I'm guessing the last 30 years or so.
If correct I think you already know you'll get next to nothing for them. Personally I would wish to get rid of the lot in one go and have it done with rather than looking up single items someone has offered £1 for. Trouble is you're limited as the cost of postage will sadly be more than their worth. It's all about how much time and effort you can afford to get rid of them.

They range from 1948 but majority are 70s through to present day, have you got a ball park figure as to what you think I might get for them?

Many thanks

Ah well , that's not so bad. I couldn't possibly give a figure but I'm sure the two United big guns will have something to say after tonight's game... Good luck

There was someone on here last week with 2,000 Manchester United for sale. The Vultures circled before he annouced that he had a few 1950s modern programmes 1960s onwards are worth feck all.

I put 800 Man United homes and aways in an auction from 65 to date and i got a pricely sum of £40. Shocked

That is only true if you set out to build it up as an investment. I know if I sold my collection I would be lucky to get a third of my money back but I knew that when I started out. I have had so much pleasure in building that even if I decided to call it a day, I wouldn't consider it a waste of time, i've enjoyed it.

It may be worth selling them season by season, say 20+ items per season is more likely to sell than the whole lot. Unless the whole collection was cheap of course. But postage or courier would be astronomical cost and puts a lot of buyers of, so collection in person is a better option, but that limits it to local people.

I have sold quite a lot of programmes in season by season batches at it doesn't break the bank for the buyer on cost of purchase or postage. You'd probably make more too. I have also bought lots of programmes in season batches and they fall between the £10-£15 category price wise normally.
