Do many people collect scarves for games like semi finals/finals and European games? I have a few and am wondering do many people collect these. I am mainly into programmes and am thinking whether it is worth continuing to collect scarves.

I suppose eventually people will start to collect them seriously.

I took a party of Germans to the Liverpool V Napoli game a couple of years ago and a couple of them were quite eager to buy a commemorative scarf. However these were all snapped up by the Napoli fans which in turn seem to inflate the prices on Ebay. Smile

I collect a scarf from the team that Hull plays against (when an abroad team) and then usually a half - half when abroad too. I admit I used to do the domestic ones but mainly for the "big" matches - semi finals or finals or the bigger teams when it was more of a novelty first time we went. Now you get them for any ordinary game so it's pointless collecting them in my opinion.

I probably have about 15 - 20 scarves, just rolled up in a cupboard. Not sure the best way to store them!

What I've noticed this season following Leicester is the amount of sellers outside grounds selling matchday 50-50 scarfs. Never had this in the championship and we wont next season. I mean who wants a scarf with Manchester United / Leicester City on it no thanks. You support your own team not your opponents, they are just a rip-off sold by chancers outside the grounds for the tourists and hangers on in the Premiership.

I have collected programmes, some tickets and badges and some scarves. I am getting rid of half of the scarves collection this evening and am going to collect programmes only from now on.

I have to admit to buying all the uefa Pompey scarves and the fa cup final ones.....I've certainly seen the pompey uefa ones sell on eBay above the tenner originally paid...... But then again unlike a lot of teams that make Europe I'm not sure we will ever make it back again hence the increased values! Cool

The only 50-50 scarf I have bought is when Leicester City played Real Madrid in a pre season friendly.
This was a one off purchase for a once in a lifetime event...after all we won't be playing them in the Champions League any time soon!

Talking of scarves, I think this one has a slightly over-inflated idea of value.

They are not a rip-off, they are what they are, it's not as if whoever is buying them ends up with something other than what they thought they were buying.

They may not be to many people's taste on here, and they aren't mine, but you can take them or leave them, nobody forces you to buy and if some people like them then there will always be a market.
