Brilliant Bazza, could well be Bohemians.

Not sure about Oakwell though but I'll do more digging. Cheers!

If it isn't Oakwell then Bohemians played Accrington, Oldham & Rochdale in the 1951 Festival of Britain. Could the stadia on view be from of those three teams?

Good 'geeking' re Bohemians FC. Maybe contact them via twitter? Someone may know the match and who the keeper is.

I've sent a tweet to Bohemians FC Wink

Well, I've been out most of the day but have returned to find all this work done on my behalf and I thank you all for everything you have done, particularly Bazza who came up trumps with Bohemians and the Shamrock Rovers ground.

If I manage to find a buyer, I shall donate the takings to the charity I do fund-raising for, the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Cheers all Easy Clap Thumbs Up

Duncan was spot on then Pete.

He said straight away it wasn't English or Welsh, and was most likely Irish didn't he.

Clever sod!

The Goalkeeper is Shelbourne and they used to play thier home games at Shamrock Rovers ground in Milltown in the 1950s the crest on the keepers jersey is three castles which Shelbourne used for years and the keeper looks like Kevin Blount who played for Shels at that time if not Jim Farmer who played for Shels 1955 to 1958

Harjoe
Fantastic, thank you for all that.
So - the keeper is probably Blount of Shelbourne, playing at Milltown, the home of Shamrock Rovers. Can you please give me the rough dates between which Blount would have been playing?
Also - the other photo with 2 defenders jumping and a player in different kit on the right - presume that's also at Milltown - any idea who's playing please?
Am I pushing my luck?
Thanks again

Its also Shelbourne the number 3 is the Shels kit with the stripe down the shorts , the other player could be a Limerick player Gary Spain will confirm that or not ,with Shels playing in Red it had to be a country team like Cork Athletic or Limerick because no other Dublin based team wore blue unless St Patricks Ath who wore Red and may have changed for that match and the goalie is Jim Farmer who I played with some years later

Right Harjoe, thanks again.

So both photos are Shelbourne playing at Milltown in 1956/7 season or thereabouts.
The keeper is Jim Farmer and in the other photo, the No 3 is also of Shelbourne and the player right is an opponent probably in blue.

Brilliant info and thank you again.

Pete

here is another Shelbourne photo from 1954/55 season and Kevin Blount is the keeper if you notice the player beside Kevin has a stripe down his shorts and although he is wearing black shorts in the team photo , you can match up which of the goalkeepers is in your photo
