Is there no sentiment in the game anymore?

I was aghast earlier to see no minutes silence prior to the African cup of nations game between Guinea and the Ivory coast for the late great Dierdre Barlow.

Then just to add insult to injury before the Chelsea v Liverpool game sod all again!

Heartless bastards..

Some would say a bit more attractive than the average footballer, must be the Dennis Taylor bins.

RIP Anne, you really tugged our heartstrings.

Absolutely loved Deirdre, my fav Corrie character along with Aud.

Feel quite mournful about her sad passing if I'm honest.
Lovely lady in RL too by all accounts, very private too.

RIP Anne. Sad

She should have left Ken for Mike Baldwin.
I can remember the punch-up in the Rovers Return between Ken + Mike but not who won.
Anyone recall?

I stopped watching the show when they killed off Mavis's Derek, brought in the Battersbys and the show turned all hormonal.

Don't need that - hear enough of that at work all day....

I agree with the sarcastic sentiment. Far too many minutes silence for totally non football related people. It started with the mass hysteria of Diana. I mean Nelson Mandela. For Gods sake. yes, why not Deirdre.
I remember Oxford United. A young lad, who had been a steward for years , suddenly dropped dead. We were struck dump . What did the club do ? Nothing. Not famous enough I guess.

I'll tell you what I wish they'd do away with - that bloody lineup before every game where all the players walk down the line shaking hands with their opponents.
It's like what the debutantes used to do before their coming-out balls in the 50s.

I don't want to see Derby players shaking Leeds' players by the hand, wishing them well and good luck and "how's life treating you?"

Bugger that.

I want opposing players to walk on to the pitch and feel intimidated.

Game's become gentrified, y'know.

They once had a minute's silence at the County because Byron had lost his lighter.
