Mystery (Army?) Team wearing Villa kit?

I got this from an Italian trader recently - it looks like Aston Villa but it certainly isn't. The presence of all those soldiers makes me think it's an Army XI and I believe they used to play Villa every year back then - which by the kit I would assume to be about WW1 time.

But if the Army were playing Villa they surely wouldn't be in Villa kit?

Can anyone throw any light on this please? Thank you.



Incidentally, this Italian trader is a true gent and if you are one of those who thinks foreign traders can't be trusted, this chap totally disproves that theory.
