Did Grimethorpe Miners Welfare produce programmes in the early 1980s?

Thank you.

Grimethorpe is where I lived until the age of 3 and where a lot of my relatives still live. In the early 80s my Grandad was admitted into hospital and when he was well enough we use to take him to watch the football at Grimethorpe. I remember little except a striker with the name of Wainwright playing. Is he shown in that programme?

What is strange is that although I have a lot of the Sheffield Wednesday programes from the games we used to go to and all my Wakefield RFC programmes I have none from watching Grimethorpe MW which is unusual.

I had thought it was because they didn't produce one but obviously not...

Yep, he's there.

Line-up that day (19.9.81) was:

Marshall; Neal, Paddon, Foster, Greenwood; Hooley, Milthorpe, Locke, J.North; Niven, T.Wainwright [sub: D.North]

12 page programme issued (unpriced, so presumably included in the entrance fee) and includes a full menu of items available at the tea hut.

Just to make you feel really nostalgic........chip butties for 20p. Steak pie and chips 38p. Tea 10p.

Hi Tackler,

I have programmes from Grimethorpe from 81/2, 82/3, 83/4, 88/9 and 89/90.

A lot of my mates played for Grimey in those days

Thanks guys.

Still a mystery why I don't have any programmes from this era and I can't ask my dad as he passed away earlier this year. Between the two of us we have collected programmes from all the sports and games we went to, so this is a complete blank to me.

I remember Wainwright as I believe his nickname was Snowy, the same as mine when I was a child.
