This issue of the Villa programme should include an insert that was the 37th in their series of Our Portrait Gallery.

The game against Bolton Wanderers was the last of the season, a game that they lost 0-2.

I am trying to find out the subject displayed in this photo insert.

I have contacted the club and their copy of the programme does not include the insert. Likewise I have been to the Newspaper Library at Colindale, North London and their copy doesn't include the insert. I have also contacted the Birmingham Library and their copy is also missing the insert, which seems strange.

In the previous programme the insert was numbered 36, and in the following programme it was numbered 38. So it does seem as if there should have been an insert in the programme for 27 April, 1907.

I am hoping that someone on this forum might have a copy of the programme that also includes the Our Portrait Gallery insert, or might have some idea where or how I might continue my search for the details I require.

I would have thought that all the sources you have been to suggest that nothing was issued.

This programme was issued over 100 years ago, at the end of the day does it really matter?

I know it's a little sad, but as well as collecting programmes I also collect cigarette cards and trade cards and these inserts fall into the latter category. I am always trying to complete checklists of sets of football cards. I have a list of 354 inserts from the 355 programmes issued by Aston Villa between August 1906 and May 1915.
