Are any forum members aware of a player called Anthony or Tony Parkinson who may have appeared for Norwich City in the late 50's or early 60's? I work with a South African chap who says his Father (an Englishman) played for Norwich in his younger days.

I would be very interested to find out a bit about him if the claim can be substantiated.

Sherlock

Thank you

.....and no phone numbers ending 0-5 0-5 etc please!!

That'll teach me for mocking the Man U fans on here Crying or Very sad

Sorry yyou did pm this question and I forgot to look it up.

In the two books that I have which are Norwich player A-Z there is no player by that name listed.

Thank you Paulo.

Does this mean he could still have been attached to the club and made Reserve appearances?

Can't find any details of him in my 1950's and 60's Norwich handbooks either, league team or combination side.

Thank you John. It would appear that he may be being economical with the truth, I shall sack him immediately!!

That said he also stated that his Father was friends with Tony Macedo so he may well have been a player at some stage at some level? Can't be made up I wouldn't think as a native South African with no interest in football whatsoever is hardly likely to know of Macedo's existence?

The mystery remains...

Sherlock

I'm led to believe that Leeds will next run out at Elland Road to the theme music from Hawaii Five O.....

The nearest to a positive answer is perhaps Tony Chilleystone: He came through Norwich youth ranks in the late 50s and moved to Kings Lynn

Here are the pen-pics taken from the Everton-Kings Lynn Programme for the 1961-62 FA Cup tie at Goodison

Perhaps his father has a bit of a Walter Mitty lifestyle!?

Thank you very much Dan for going to the effort of providing that information, the Walter Mitty bit may possibly be true, I shall drop it into the converstaion with him and see if I can find out a bit more.

Thank you to a lesser degree to Matt and John - did make me smile though. Got quite expectant when I saw I had two 'topic reply notifications' only to be heavily let down.

Every chance of revenge on Matt one day but I'm not likely to know if Auchinleck ever get tonked!
